My sister in law (47) fell 8 ft. off a ladder while hanging Christmas lights and shattered both of her ankles. Two surgeries later, she is STILL in the hospital.

    Do it, funk!

Almost the same time this guy died, our other neighbor fell of a ladder in his backyard and died.

    Be careful on ladders!

Yes, the inside of the house. You vastly overestimate my abilities if you think I could properly paint something.

That sounds difficult and a lot of work, so no.

    1) Paint the entire first floor (and maybe the basement depending on condition of it). We are going one tone white with the painting. After moving into my current home, I really have liked just having a white wall. We are scheduling this before we move into the house.
    2) Refinish the hardwood floor and change the stain color. Also, extend the hardwood into the family room area and replace the carpet that is contributing to the houses identity crisis. I hate the way the hardwood looks so similar to the kitchen cabinets. Also, stupid dogs ruining things. This is yet another reason why I will never own a dog.
    3) Replace the broken door frame leading in from the garage to the house.
    4) Replace all door handles throughout the main level of the house
    - I have settled on using these door handles

    5) Replace all the light fixtures throughout the house. I already have some ideas on this. I think that this fan will look good in the family room. I haven't decided on other light fixtures throughout.
    6) Build a Butler's Pantry off the kitchen (this is probably the last project that will get done)
    7) Replace the backsplash in the kitchen. Another source of the identity crisis of the house.
    8) Replace all the doors throughout the main level of the house. The doors have a very traditional styling and the rest of the houses is not a traditional styling
    9) Repaint the exterior of the house. The current paint job sucks and the colors suck. We are thinking a sage green with a white trim will look nice with the bricks
    10) Repair broken dryer vents on the exterior of the house
    11) Replace kitchen faucet and sink.

Even longer term, I am sure that with 5 kids at least 1 is going to end up living at home longer than we would like. I am thinking that eventually we will want to put a kitchen in the basement to make it sort of an apartment for any kids that are going to stay around. The main level of the house is more than enough living area for my wife and me.
