We will start living in the new house on Saturday night.

Even with it not being done yet, the change in the paint color is making a huge difference.

What did you go with? Flat contractor-grade white?

They in Eastlake? I'll definitely be on the lookout for them.

The painting of the walls is done. They were cleaning up their stuff today. The new carpet is being installed now as well. The walls have made it look significantly better. it will be interesting to see the basement after the carpet is installed.

As long as the carpet in the basement can get installed on Friday, we will be able to move in on Saturday. I had to delay the carpet cleaning on the main level until after we are moving in. So we may need to move some furniture around to make that work.

I haven't really checked much on them yet. We have the toggle switches, which I do want to replace with rocker switches. There are several outlets in the basement that have broken covers that I will need to replace. I am going to check into that more when the painting is done.

The real work on my end is about to start right after this is done. I'm going to need to replace the door hardware throughout the house.

For the privacy knobs and passage knobs that are visible to guests, I am going with these in the upstairs. We like the square backing with it. The only problem is that there is not a contractor's pack or something to reduce the cost of them.

For the doors inside rooms that need passage door knob, I'm going with these, as it will save about $10/door knob.

In the basement, I'm also going to save on the cost of the privacy knobs and go with these. I don't like them as much as the ones with the square backing, but it saves a lot overall.

The prior owners did so many handyman specials throughout the house. They had 2 separate security systems on one wall. For one of them, they ran the ac adapter through the wall then had the cord sticking out through the outlet from the bottom. When I pulled it off, it was so much damage.

Since we aren't living in it, all the doors are now off to be painted. All the hardware removed. Everything is taped off.

The carpet in the basement is awful. There is at least one place where it is bleached. Appears to have multiple stains from the dog. We are now replacing that.

We are moving in a week.

I'll be going through the house tonight and developing a punch list of all the things that I need to do before moving in.
What's your target date for move in?
