Great news, I don't garden so I have managed to avoid committing the worst sin that I can commit. Maybe I can make it to the Terrestrial Kingdom afterall.

In the 60's and 70's - in Utah - it was a normal thing to see a man mowing his lawn with his one piece garment top rolled down to the top of his pants - while his pasty white back browned from the rays of the sun.

I might have done it myself - post mission.

I'm just glad to hear that you are still wearing your garments.

I wear them as much in my day-to-day life as I garden in my day-to-day life.

Mormonism in the 70’s was weird.

                I love President Nelson.

One of my deepest regrets in not even having a ring ceremony for my mom and stepdad. I (wrongly) assumed that it watered down the ceremony (although the Church's script for ring ceremonies used to highlight that it's not a wedding and that the real wedding already occurred in the temple).

I’m a big fan of this move.

Tell them you'll pay for any venue and any officiant, as long as it's a chapel and a bishop.

                      • On a more serious note. While this will definitely benefit those with non-members in their family, I'm guessing the people who will benefit the most from this are divorcees who are waiting for approval to have their sealings annulled.

You think there are a lot of divorced folks willing to remarry but unwilling to wait until a sealing is cancelled? Otherwise, I'm not seeing how it affects them.

I'm not that familiar with the process, but it can take a while to get first presidency approval and I don't think you can apply for it until you are ready to marry.

My BIL ended up getting married civilly and waiting a year because the cancellation was taking so long.

Of course I wouldn't be surprised if there was a policy change to address this too sometime soon.

                              • Maybe the church will require everyone someday to first be married in a civil manner and only offer sealings in the temple... This would eliminate the liability of lawsuits for discrimination.
