The latest with the rainbow lights on the Y is not going to end well for BYU and is not going to help their image.

Meh. People are reading way too much into that.

It is mostly that byu felt like it needed to go out of its way to say it didn't authorize it. It should have just remained silent.

They should have responded, "BYU did not authorize the lighting of the Y tonight. But is was Fabulous!"

no kidding. That’s a PR slam dunk. It’s funny and manages to steer clear of potential land mines on both sides of the argument.

It did the same thing earlier this week when someone passed out fliers to protest against LGBT.

This feels like something that doesn't really matter. (Though I don't always guess right on what is and is not a big deal.)

This is what Carrie Jenkins said about the LGBT celebration:

The Y is BYU property, and any form of public expression on university property requires prior approval. We intend to make certain that members of our campus community understand this.”
Refresh my memory, did she give a similar warning to the students passing out anti-gay fliers? Do you really not see the difference? What Jenkins said was not simply a disassociation, it was a threat.

She is the worst. There is no demand for her.

So here is how BYU responded to the earlier incident, as described in the BYU-published newspaper.

I commend the BYU response and shouldn't have been so quick to think the worst of the BYU powers-to-be. Point AA.
