No. I imagined it like this:

My point is that using archaic early 1800's laws as point of argument is dubious. That would be like calling someone's character into question because they engaged in interracial marriage when it was illegal.

Furthermore, there are plenty of perfectly legitimate ways to critique seer stones and money digging. Why resort to legality?
It was illegal. And it was rightfully illegal. It's not like interracial marriage that way. I do think it brings proper meaning and understanding to how Joseph used the seerstone pre-BOM.

As for the best or most precise adjective to use? I dunno. Sketchy, is maybe a better word? But illegal also seems reasonable.

Yes! This would be awesome. Take it out on April 6 for a special meeting (available to the common membership via webcam).
Maybe get the Apostles to use it to tackle Facsimile #2.

For LDS, this is a legit magic/mystical rock. It deserves some recognition & reverence.

The Hebrews had the Ark with the tablets inside, rocks that had been literally touched by God. Muslims have the Ka'aba with its special meteorite. Catholics have the bones of St. Peter below the basilica. Mormons need to step up their game if they want to roll with the big boys.

I see you keep avoiding my question. That is fine. I will drop it.

Mormons have the Joseph Smith death mask, the dried blood on the jailhouse floor (until recently), and those cool authentic clay bricks you can buy when you visit Nauvoo.

Personally, I always imagined the seer stone as something like a beautiful crystal that magically lights up when you put it in a dark place, and reveals poetic phrases within its facets. Instead we get this prosaic rock.

Apparently LDS leaders are just as jaded as you all. Because if this seer stone were all its been cracked up to be -- if they really believed that -- they they'd have constructed an edifice, an entire gorgeous building to house it in, and kept it in a holy of holies, except for April 6 of each year.

What a comedy. lol! This thread already deserves five stars.

                  Literally laughed out loud. Bravo.

the Joseph smith astrology cane is kinda cool too, but it's practically hidden in that museum (or was, anyway).

Frazer? Everyone knows that phaser is short for PHoton mASER.

i wonder if there is any possibility of showing the actual stone publicly? photos are cool, but it would be better to see the actual stone.
