    Who said it best?

A quiz for who you think said the following quote: SU, SoonerCoug, CadiacCoug, or Hitler? Choose carefully.

Science will easily destroy the last remaining vestiges of superstition. Put a small telescope in a village and you destroy a world of superstitions. The best thing is to let Christianity die a natural death. A slow death has something comforting about it. The dogma of Christianty gets worn away before the advances of science.
You know who said it. But they all share a frightening confidence in the march of science at the expense of a religion-based moral society. We need both.

I dont know who. But probably not SU, unless you replace all instances of "Christianity" with "Mormonism". SU is selective that way.

I don't know. But from your tone it sounds like it was Hitler. Am I right?

Those that rely on only on science are interesting. My brother is one. We have had many conversations on faith in which he says faith is a make believe word that has no merit whatsoever. It is a word that religion uses to get the congregation and followers to conform.

Meanwhile we watched interstellar together and he was having mini orgasms all throughout the film about how awesome space is. When he gets to the part of losing time because of the black hole he says "It's true you would lose time in the black hole because of yadda yadda yadda science"

Isn't that faith? Has anyone actually gone through a black hole and proved the time theory? I know, I know, it has been proven through mathematics and test tubes. Science has its limitations. Science is the same subject that once thought the world was flat. That the sun rotated around the earth etc. The Gospel Principles of Jesus Christ is constant and never changing and true. Science may eventually catch up.
( FYI I most likely wrote that incoherently and will be properly corrected forthwith. Thanks)

            I know the answer. Here's a hint:

John Updike once said that he thinks that believing that everything in this universe exploded from a condensed piece of matter the size of a dime (imagine, if you can, the enormity and mass of the Universe) takes as much faith as believing in the godly moving hand of creation.

Every time you use GPS, you are placing 'faith' in time dilation. I'm not sure about how relates to black holes, but it really is a fact.

This is another sloppy Levin thread.

The title asks us to decide which person said it best, yet Levin only gives us one quote from which to choose. Either change the title of the thread to "Who said it?" or maintain the title as-is but provide at least one other similar quote per possible selection so that we can then decide which person actually said it best.

Additionally, he didn't link the audio clip, so we can't really even tell how well Hitler said that. Maybe his voice was cracking the whole time.

3D, you're a sharper thinker than that. Try again.

I admit it's not my best work at subtlety to make the point that those folks all say the same thing, and with that being the Hitler version, the question is if SU, Cardiac, or Sooner have been able to improve upon it.

                              Who the hell is CadiacCoug?

Reductio ad Hitlerum. Is that what they taught you in law school?
