Eh, it didn't bother me that much. How else are you going to visually represent a convergence of time? I thought it was done as well as it could.

Seems like I was always taught that principles of truth are eternal, and God is requires to operate within them.

So - I guess that means that yes, those morals, laws, truths, whatever you want to call them, have always been around.

Which makes it difficult to say they are based on some description of ethics or morality that came later.

What do you mean by "came later"? Just because Mills didn't publish his Utilitarianism until 1860s doesn't mean that his theory about ethics is not correct...Whether the principles exist independently or "eternally" is not the same thing as understanding what those principles are.

I get what you're saying. I'm just saying that I don't think there is any one theory that sums it all up accurately. There are a lot of ideas and concepts, but they can't be developed in a vacuum. Like killing is bad, don't do it. Unless it's a guy like Laban and God thinks you need to get the brass plates from him. Then both killing and stealing might be OK. Of course, that depends upon how you view ownership. Does everything belong to God? Then maybe it wasn't stealing.

Killing still isn't OK. Unless you need to completely eradicate a city like Jericho (except for the whore, of course) in order to make way for God's people. Then it's OK. A commandment even.

I guess, for me, if I'm going to believe that there is a God who is omniscient, omnipotent, etc., then I also have to believe that I don't know everything he knows and I don't understand everything he understands. So it's OK if I don't completely understand when killing is OK and when it isn't - I have to trust that He knows those things and follow his lead.

Yeah - that's really simplistic. And not very deep. But I think a lot of people get lost trying to understand things that are not understandable. And for whatever reason, I don't have the need to understand everything or have every question answered. So it works for me.

You're probably right. But the reality is that we're all humans that make mistakes. It is what it is, we can do our best to be better. But we're still imperfect. I do or say things all the time that I look back on in shame. But I've accepted who I am - for the most part - and accept that while I'm trying to be better, I'm not there yet.

The condescending, smartass, or sarcastic replies is one of the reasons I don't often come around this forum. Besides being very cliquey, there's often not a lot of respect for each other's points of view. I value kindness as much or more than above average academic intelligence.

Being a smart ass and belonging to the clique are mutually exclusive. I myself am a smart ass and yet the clique often gangs up and are quite nasty to me.
