Holland is puzzling. Seemingly from nowhere and for no reason, he doubles down on Garden of Eden literalism. High risk, low reward. Loved the story he opened with, though. He's a guy I usually love when he's not grinding on ProgMo's.

Again who believes this stuff? Literal Adam and Eve? Is there a more preposterous belief in the church than a literal Adam and Eve?

I predict JL is grinding his teeth as he realizes this isn't his home anymore.

Brent Nielson was my Stake President. Good speaker and gave great 5th Sunday lessons, had minimum contact with him though.

I don't see the problem with Holland's talk. Are you guys really surprised that older church leaders have a more literal belief in the Fall? His statement even left room for the scientific explanation of how man evolved. His larger point wasn't new, because of the fall we need an atonement. I'm not sure what you guys were expecting.

Not surprised. Well, maybe a little, because i have a higher hope for leaders than to ignore basic established science, but i guess I'm a little cynical at this point, so no.
And I realize he sprinkled in a few nice messages, but he gets a huge dock in points for adding in what the church needs least at this point in its existence--more literalism/fundamentalism.
