Sorry bro, the "real endgame" here is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.

Yep. It does't take more than a few minutes perusing the Netflix options on a boring Saturday night to have this strongly confirmed.

If one person gets converted because of this movie it will be considered a success.

Which is why I can't connect the dots.

So what does that imply as an actuarial value of a human soul?

I've never heard of 'Shaytards', but he was VERY EXCITED about the movie, and EXTREMELY EXCITED to interview Elder Holland:

"...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Do you think it's possible for you to post without using words like "hilarious," "absurd," "canard," and "truther"? Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."

This guy apparently. Still don't know anything about him. Besides, zany.

Also, this guy that does the stupid kiss me prank bullshit really gets invited to this?! That's a sad state of things.

                        • I'm sure I heard somewhere that this film was actually supposed to replace whatever is showing at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building on Temple Square. But when it was finished, they thought it was such a "high quality documentary" that they decided it should be released to audiences beyond that.

From what I understand, it is starting in theaters and will eventually be available on youtube, the church website, and probably netflix too.

So - that's the word on the street if you believe it. Personally, I do think that the demand has been much over estimated. But I suppose I could see some folks inviting non-member family or friends to see the movie with them. Heck, it wasn't too long ago that I was in line at the Ogden Temple openhouse in front of a couple who had brought along some non-LDS friends to show them what an LDS temple looks like on the inside. I'm not sure this is much different than that - other than you can pick up some snacks to eat while you watch.

The skeptic in me wants to make a joke about how this is being released to theaters so that the church can get members to pay for it - but with non-tithing funds so that their donation to the production isn't tax deductible. But now that they've announced that all proceeds are being donated the red cross, that kind of kills that theory.

                          • Are all proceeds going to the Red Cross? I thought only net proceeds were being donated.

According to the Holland video, all proceeds to the Red Cross

                              • I'm kind of excited to see the movie. I know, it's not a true documentary in that it's not really meant to "inform". You can call it propaganda, but that's pretty much every Michael Moore documentary, so I'm not sure what has the critics all in a tizzy.
