It just occurred to me that Lebowski may be at his own disciplinary hearing for running this web site.

Lebowski is way too smart to let the posse find him.

Much of the OW angst could have been avoided, IMO, if TSM had stoop up in April and said, "I prayed about it; it's not time."
Instead, it's become a game of shadowy inquisitors, competition for PR, and lots of posturing from both sides about sincerity.

This reminds me of those accounts in medieval history where the Cistercians are arguing with the Benedictines about the proper rules of monasticism.
In the midst of it all, both sides sort of lose touch with what the majority of the world really needs.
I'm checking out on this issue.

I wonder if SU's ostentatious rhetorical bullying works with his junior associates? My guess is they treat his rage and empathy about as seriously as we do.

Not sure if anyone else already said this or not, but the Stack article did say that Kelly was first talked to by her SP in early May, when she was put on probation and told to give up OW.org. So the fact that this happened couldn't be a surprise (although the specific timing might be) as she declined to comply with her SP's requests.

Good thoughts. I would have called her in and tried to convince her she could get a lot more attention by announcing she could no longer in good conscience be a member and is asking to be removed from the church records. I would probably suggest she throw in the word repugnant somewhere.

If the higher ups got ticked at me for doing so, I would claim I was inspired as her Bishop to do so.

In the June 8 email, Kelly was told that a disciplinary council is scheduled of June 22 at her former ward in Virginia, even though she now lives across the country in Utah. “I contacted the person who oversees my stake president, Donald L. Hallstrom,” she said. “I asked him at a bare minimum to convene the council where I live, and he said he can’t help me. As an attorney, it’s a violation of due process, and it highlights that the system is unfair.”

The letter also orders her to “take down www.ordainwomen.org and disassociat[e] yourself from Ordain Women.” In other words, Kelly said, “I don’t have to change my mind. I just have to shut my mouth.”

I should clarify that it is Sooner who said totalitarian. But the adjective resonates because in Iraq, Syria, Nigeria et al. religion is the fascism of our age. Actually fascism always has been a form of religion.
