That's about passion, not sex! Don't you recognize the difference?

Why, do they use pictures in the presentation?

Our stake president did a pornography presentation in priesthood a few weeks ago for ward conference. He called me the day before, since I am our de facto A/V specialist, to set up the TV, and download some videos to show from LDS.org. I could have really boosted priesthood attendance if I had emailed that info out to the quorums and left out "from LDS.org" part.

That's just the response my wife gives. She doesn't care for the over-the-top sexual descriptions in the book, that does nothing for her. Its the passion with which the dude pursues the chick that drives the story.

In other words, porn for women

This reminds me of what some women I know who enjoy porn will always point out. They say that if there is a storyline in a movie, even if it is hard-core, and as long as women are presented as equals or in charge, then it is erotica, not porn.

In a way I agree with them. However, the official LDS stance is that porn is evil and degrades women no matter what. Of course we know that no LDS women look at porn...nope, none of them. Well, yes they do. However, I asked one LDS woman who had admitted to me that she had occasionally looked at porn why the Church never seemed to say anything to the women. She shrugged her shoulders and said that since men held the priesthood they were held at a higher level of accountability than women.

                  Could that be it?

Which is why Ordain Women and its sympathizers are a lot like a young child prematurely asking for the keys to her father's car! Women aren't ready for the priesthood and are blessed for not having it because the consequences are so much greater once you have it and abuse it. #soblessed

I would have gone with "loaded gun" instead of car keys.

Eh, I think a major problem is that too many priesthood holders are shooting blanks these days. Too much time by themselves down on the range?

So this was a total letdown. They showed 5 consecutive clips from overcomingpornography.org and then the bishop spoke for 3 minutes at the end, urging anyone who has a pornography problem to talk to him. I applaud him in that it wasn't heavy-handed (well, some of the clips were laughably manipulative, but what can you expect) but it seemed odd to have a special meeting about something we've heard so many dozens of times before.

As for the videos, they were pretty funny. For example, the watch your step vid with its side by side comparisons of a dad who watched porn vs. same guy who didn't. Shockingly, the guy who didn't watch porn is a better father, pays attention to his kids, brings his wife flowers, and otherwise lives life in bright color, while the guy who watched porn is a crappy father, starts fights with his wife, and lives in a dingy haze.

My favorite clip was this really abstract one where a guy uses metaphors to describe his porography addiction and the recovery process. Meanwhile, the video showed a man acting out those metaphors literally. Super strange, and it didn't really make sense at several junctures.
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

So, basically, "What is Real?" At least, I think that was the name of it. LDS church video from early 90s, with a cover showing a dad with his daughter in three possibilities - angelic, normal, and bad (but smokin' hot).

Yeah they showed this video in my ward, too. Super disjointed at times, but I think I got the gist.
