Mormon Church criticized for not picking leaders from Latin America, Africa
[...]
Although Rasband, Stevenson and Renlund are fine men who will make great leaders, the church missed an opportunity to make an important statement to Latter-day Saints of color or those from other countries, said Ignacio Garcia, a professor of Western and Latino history at Mormon-owned Brigham Young University.
"Saints of color always have to respond to: 'Why do belong to that white church?'" Garcia said. "It becomes harder and harder as we go further into the 21st Century: We still can't point to a more diversified leadership."
Patrick Mason, associate professor of religion at Claremont Graduate University in California and Howard W. Hunter Chair of Mormon Studies, pointed out, though, that Renlund and Stevenson have held major leadership positions with the church in foreign countries: Renlund in Africa and Stevenson in Japan. That may suggest that the church felt they could infuse international experience without having members who are from those countries, he said.

He makes a good point but I am sure there are some that are (now) asking: "Why is Garcia teaching at a white university?"

Hey, there you a go. A little BYU smack. Nice to see some ute fans starting to put their toes in the water.

I believe our own Cowboy has been through Burns a couple of times. Lots of cattle and buffalo ranching out there.
I've been there many times. My inlaws live in that county. It wouldn't surprise me if they are sympathetic to the cause since they are constantly trashing, oftentimes rightfully so, the liberals on the coast.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Burns is by and large made up of good people. I sincerely hope only a nutty few are supporting the Bundy clown show.

I find it funny that many of my liberal friends are calling them terrorists and accusing them of breaking laws. I'm wondering what the difference is between the Bundy protest and the Occupy Wall Street protest?
I don't side with the Bundy's, but the hypocrisy in all of this is very thick and funny.

This, for starters:
Among those joining Bundy in the occupation are Ryan Payne, U.S. Army veteran, and Blaine Cooper. Payne has claimed to have helped organize militia snipers to target federal agents in a standoff last year in Nevada. He told one news organization the federal agents would have been killed had they made the wrong move.
I can't believe Ryan Payne is stupid enough to openly admit that, but there you go.

It's nowhere near the same things. Occupy Wall Street assembled in parks. They did not seize Federal buildings, and they did not bring guns and they did not threaten violence.

They broke laws by assembling and staying in parks. They did threaten violence. Did you not see any of the videos around that time? OWS was very hostile to anyone that didn't agree with them.
