I think he means if you ONLY follow the FP and apostles. I mean, your Twitter feed would be pretty boring in that case

"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

    • Loved most of my religion classes at the BYU—especially the ones that were taught by the professors most students hated. I found the more popular the teacher the less I liked the class.

      • I see Hank Smith mentioned by facebook friends every now and then. He's the millenial's Brad Wilcox, right?
"...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Do you think it's possible for you to post without using words like "hilarious," "absurd," "canard," and "truther"? Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."

No that is not what he said.

Yeah, if you follow all Q12 + 3FP, you are a borderline weirdo. Sorry, there is no wiggle room. You are either trying to send some message through your follows, or are so unable to think for yourself that you feel the need to hear/see/read everything they say and do. Follow your favorite 2-3, if you must.

If you follow political leaders on Twitter, you are a freaking loser. Maybe a weirdo too, but definitely a loser.

              • I think it would be somewhat hilarious if everyone following Hank Smith told him that he was probably right to only follow the First Presidency and Q12, and then unfollowed him.

My son picked up a couple of Hank Smith CD's as a missionary, and I listened to one with him during a long drive we took together. It was very good - if you like the John Bytheway-ish style of story telling and working in a gospel message and learning with a good dose of humor and spirit. I could see the draw for the younger crowd.

But I could see him being completely capable of going weird as well. Too bad, I guess.

Good. Not sure if I support the death penalty but they should never see the light of day again. Monsters.

                    • Chad and Lori are so sickening but it's also a train wreck I can't stop paying attention to. I wonder what the autopsy report on poor Tammy said. What a collection of evil psychos.

What's the punishment that's worse than death? I think that gets my vote for them.

Yeah. In the end, death is too quick and easy of a resolution for them while they're here, even though it also sucks to have to spend money on these animals that ought to just be quickly euthanized.

the punishment they deserve is to live with the realization that they are not chosen or special: to fade out of public consciousness into jumpsuits and group showers.

Agreed. I don't know why people think death is always the best punishment.

Not sure if it's true, but I've read that it's a lot more expensive to keep them on death row and go through the process of appeals aimed at staying their executions. For me it comes down to whether we should aim for justice or revenge. The saint in me rejects revenge, but the other part of me wouldn't shed a tear for them if they were made dead.
