She was a wild girl - not ready to settle down - and yet didn't ignore her heritage of Sacrament partaking on Sundays. She had feet in two canoes - and would someday have to choose. Shaka knows the type.

Maybe she was a Shaka Goddess.

By golly - I think that works!
She's was a little old to pop up on my radar but yes, I know the type.

    • I Had No Plans to Become an American...
      2020 changed all that.

I had escaped a corrupt, broken government that was unable to respond to disaster only to shockingly find myself in a similar situation in my new country.

      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

            • Nice article. I don't think she really knows how she got her citizenship, though. You don't get it through your spouse-- that's how you get your Lawful Permanent Resident status-- which is actually the suspenseful, expensive, and hard part. Being in that status for 5 years allows you apply to be a citizen-- or you can apply after 3 if you are married to a citizen for those 3 years. Citizenship is a cake walk and not that expensive-- just over $700 for the application. If you bumble your LPR application, however, you could get placed in removal proceedings and have to get your residency from an immigration judge, which is not ideal since it's either win your case or get on order of removal. So I'm thinking they had some help with that part since she seems to have no recollection of it and citizenship was such a big deal for her.

She supports same-sex marriage, counsels that masturbation is not a sin and insists pornography should not be treated as an addiction.
I haven't followed her but know she's a sex therapist. So I don't know if she's been more strident publicly attacking other LDS doctrines. But I wonder how many younger members support all of the above quote. If it isn't a majority of them it has to be pretty close, right?

She's a board member at Open Stories Foundation, lists the CES letter as a must-read, actively participates in the Mormon Stories retreats, etc... I believe them when they said that it wasn't because of the way she does therapy. She associates and participates in organizations that have become anti-LDS in nature. I think that's why they dropped the hammer.

I thought the same thing. She wants to make this about her practice as a therapist and the church leaders have consistently said that’s not at issue. In fact, it’s unusual that the church leaders would even make that statement in the letter, which tells me they would be fine if she supported gay marriage (I know a lot of members who openly support it) and practiced her therapy how ever she wanted.

It’s unfortunate she was exed but it’s also a sort of badge of honor in among the Dehlinites.

This got me curious, so I did a quick google search of her name and CES letter. Didn't find anything related to that, but she did pen a critical letter to Russel Nelson in 2019, published in (where else, amirite?) the trib:

As a prominent leader of a worldwide church, you have impressionable power which you wielded irresponsibly. There are serious consequences to what you say and how you say it. This week alone I’ve had numerous clients painfully present these in our sessions referencing your talk (teen and adult panic attacks, domestic violence towards a transitioning spouse, several suicide assessments, divorce decision made final, and resignation from the church).

Please stop causing the type of wreckage I, and my many concerned colleagues, have to sew up in the cardiac surgical room of the therapy chair. Hearts are breaking.

Two unforgiveable sins there: calling out the prophet publicly, and then likening her clinical work to that of a bonafide MD!

Hammer, dropped. It just took 2 years for it to happen!

I scrolled through her facebook for a bit yesterday out of morbid curiosity including reading the results letter from the SP.

When every other post on a somewhat widely followed forum is disparaging to the church and includes statements that RMN is not a prophet and that the church is just a big corp hiding under 501(c)(3), I am not sure why she wanted to stay.

                          • For the past week, woke mormon twitter has been in a rage that the church would ex someone simply for saying it is OK to masturbate.

I need to avoid twitter for a while.

Maybe saying it was OK for homosexuals to masturbate was a bridge too far...
