Not wearing her Gs in the video. Pulls her shirt all the way down and "never covers" when nursing that kid. Refuses to use the mother's room because you have to walk through the bathroom to get to it.

It's an attitude like this that is going to make the kid feel unaccepted when (s)he comes out in testimony meeting -- as mom records it.

Why was that even a news story? To whom is that important or useful information? Do they report on all recommend denials, or only those involving breasts? The state's not involved, the church hasn't taken an official position, and it seems pretty isolated. Is there really so little happening in Utah?

I do have to agree, however, that the bathroom mothers room is sort of gross. In our chapel we decided to turn a small classroom into a mothers room so they could avoid the smell, etc. We also put in a speaker so they could hear the meeting. And a couple of recliners and a sofa. It makes me a little jealous, tbh.

I vividly remember my first Sunday in France as a missionary. It was Fast Sunday. My companion and I were seated in the third row of chairs, directly behind a woman with an infant in her arms and her three year old son seated next to her, to her right. Her husband, a counsellor in the Branch Presidency, was at a free-standing pulpit conducting the meeting.

Initially, I hadn't noticed, but at a quiet point in the meeting, I could hear her infant loudly and happily sucking away at her left breast. Admittedly, the scene was foreign to me. Born and raised in Utah, up to that point in my life, I had never seen, or heard a woman breastfeed a child. I certainly did not expect to see a woman do so in public.

Still a little jet-lagged and famished from fasting it almost felt like I was caught in some weird dream. Ignoring the scene directly in front of me, I looked past the woman and watched a female congregant, seated in the front row, get up and head to the pulpit. I dearly hoped I could understand at least one or two words of French being spoken and tried to concentrate on what she said. A few minutes into her testimony, the three year old boy turned to his mother and said: "Mama, j'ai soif."

The woman seated in front of us, with one child suckling on her left breast, lifted up her blouse revealing her right breast as her toddler latched on for a good long drink of his own. My companion from California said everything that needed to be said with a big toothy grin as we both fixed our attention for the rest of the meeting on what was happening at the pulpit.

Up Salt Lake City way, I was always told the folks in Utah Valley were differ'nt ... seriously, I had never seen anything like that. Women always snuck away to the swanky mother's lounge in my home chapel growing up.

Duh. Clickbait. This stuff is like catnip for the social media outrage crowd.

If what the mom says is true, it is stupid that a leader would deny a TR over this issue. But just as stupid are the people who get outraged and want to go on a crusade based on this one instance. Pretty sure the majority of leaders in the church would not behave that way. Also pretty sure the breastfeeding activists will not be pleased until everyone agrees one hundred percent with their views on breastfeeding. They are milking this woman's story for all it is worth. I foresee a nurse in on Temple Square.

Up Salt Lake City way, I was always told the folks in Utah Valley were differ'nt ... seriously, I had never seen anything like that. Women always snuck away to the swanky mother's lounge in my home chapel growing up.

The diversity of the mother's lounge amenities is astounding. I've seen nice little rooms with a couple of recliners and just enough room for 3 to feed while 6 more mothers scramble to find some more space elsewhere. I've seen the stanky walk-through-the-bathroom suites. I've seen reused clerks' offices with no real seating or space. Sometimes the recliners are 20 years old and busted.

Whip it out. It's just a breast.

We were eating dinner with a member when she popped one out right at the table and fed the baby. We blinked for a second, but she never broke stride in the conversation.
