  • Daniel Peterson Lied...Again

Here we see D.Peterson lying in the Deseret News again with the cleverly concocted article: Defending the Faith: Too many credible gospel witnesses to believe they all lied, Deseret News, Oct. 18, 2012.

Let's see who can find the lie(s).

In an effort to not create too many threads, can you please put this in the "Daniel Peterson Lied" thread?
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

There is a ton in there that is misleading, not sure about lying though. I think DCP believes what he is saying.

He didn't refer to it as The Holy Book of Mormon.

Here is my comment that was banned by the moderators at Deseret (under Comments of said article):
For the 200 years of holding the so-called "priesthood" that Mormons believe is required to see Christ, that was a very short list of supernatural events, and I would not include a near death experience or the possession of Brigham Young by J.Smith as one of them.

These things happen on a daily basis outside of Mormonism and bona fide encounters with Christ are common in the body of Christ.

J.Smith absolutely lied about polygamy, so did his brother Hyrum and ALL twelve of the apostles. It is a farce to say there have been no inner groups who kept secrets until being exposed by Dr. William Law, 1st counselor to J.Smith.

David Whitmer said he was called to testify about the Holy Book of Mormon, not J.Smith. The only reason Mormonism has been blessed more than the RLDS is because Mormons still use it; they just don't follow it, that is why the "whole church" remains under condemnation. (Pres. Benson; D&C 84:54-57, etc.)

Seventh Day Adventist began after Mormonism and yet they are larger in number and growing faster. Mormonism is still cursed.
I don't get it, what was wrong with that comment? They let comments on by atheist slamming God. What gives?

Tex will find all the lies. I look forward to his analysis.

I believe that it was banned because it is internally inconsistent. First you say that Mormonism is cursed for not following the book of Mormon. As evidence of this curse, the Seventh Day Adventists has grown faster than Mormonism. However, why isn't the SDA cursed even more than Mormonism? They don't use or even have the HBoM! That is why the comment was banned.

To know what to follow and not to is sin. Since SDA do not **claim to base their church on the HBoM (thank you for that acronym) they are free of said curse.

No Holy Book of Mormon? Not cursed.

Use the Holy Book of Mormon but call it the Book of Mormon? Cursed.

So, why cite Benson as understanding your point when you believe that he doesn't need the priesthood? He was the ultimate priesthood authority at the time. You're appealing to an authority that you don't recognize to substantiate your point which seems to contradicts itself. To paraphrase Socrates in Phaedrus, you're harvesting a crop of poor quality because you're not using the right rhetoric on your audience.

It's a sorority at Utah State and the U called "Sisters Against Temptation." They work to make sure that men are not viewing pornography by having sex with boys who come to them and admit they have a porn problem, thereby removing the temptation, permanently, a la Wilde.

Or, he might mean Scholastic Aptitude Test. I think the former is more likely.
