Yes, Emma told her kids on more than one occasion that plural marriage was all BY's idea. I believe David Whitmer claimed this as well. Figures. If it wasn't for BY Zion would have been correctly established in Texas and not Utah."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.
"I honestly believe saying someone is a smart lawyer is damning with faint praise. The smartest people become engineers and scientists." -SU.
"Yet I still see wisdom in that which Uncle Ted posts." -creek.

Truth that is self-evident can justify course correcting.Originally posted by lambdacoug View PostYou want to change the facts?
That is another lie, but since Mormons tossed Emma under the bus, it's not as good an example of an associate of JS that lied. Polygamy came along after David, but he knew people who were PERSONALLY taught it by J. and Hyrum.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostYes, Emma told her kids on more than one occasion that plural marriage was all BY's idea. Yes, the new location could have been any of a number of places including Oregon.Last edited by DWhitmer; 10-19-2012, 09:37 PM.

Can we make this the official Dan Peterson thread?
http://www.deseretnews.com/article/8...f-Mormon.html?
This guy is the king of logical fallacies.
In this article, he introduces the subject by talking about how his students often break English grammar rules. In order to write on a subject, first you have to follow the basic rules. He lists a few common mistakes. Then he compares this to BOM archaelogy critics. They also ignore a simple set of foundational rules. Yet, he fails to define a single one of these rules. The only thing he says is that it's really, really hard to make any interpretations on BOM archaelogy.
Once again, he plays to his audience, not making any logical sense at all.

The comment section, predictably, is a trove of interesting questions:Originally posted by jay santos View PostCan we make this the official Dan Peterson thread?

It sounds like you are the guy to go to with this question. When I was in school (many years ago) I was taught that when you write the name of a city and a state in a sentence there is always a comma after the state: "I am from the Atlanta, Georgia, area."
I have noticed recently that MANY are not following that rule...including people who are writing for respected publications.
Can you tell me if, 1) the rule has changed, 2) I had the rule wrong all along, or 3) people just don't know what they are doing.
Thanks!
