The stats are staggering.

In the year and a half since the LDS Church lowered the minimum age for full-time missionary service, the Utah-based faith has seen its proselytizing force swell from 58,500 to more than 83,000. That’s a 42 percent leap.
The number of convert baptisms last year grew to 282,945, up from 272,330 in 2012. That’s an increase of — less than 4 percent.

Totally not surprised. AZ got a pretty big influx of missionaries who seemingly just roam around with jack squat to do. I don't understand this. I guess it's just growing pains, but man these younger girls-- at least the ones I've seen/been accosted by-- are very unprepared; maybe it just seems that way now that there's a horde of them and they maybe decided to go last minute because everyone else was going. At least they'll come home with a full arsenal in their quivers of ways to deal with passive aggressive rejection.

2. When you go on about how attractive sister missionaries are, how you'll only marry an RM, and how much of a better mom a girl is who has served a mission, it can hurt our feelings. You probably don't mean it to be offensive, but it is. We look at the path we've chosen as inferior in your eyes. We see our future children and wonder if you're right about their mother and how less spiritual she'll be. We wonder if we should go and serve solely because it will make us more attractive to you. We think our personal scripture study, the fulfilling of our callings, our desire to serve others, our teaching and helping those around us, isn't enough. We'll still be great wives and mothers, promise!

I think it's funny and kind of awesome for self-righteous LDS girls to get a taste of their own medicine when it comes to refusal to marry anybody but an RM.

My wife definitely fell into that camp: would only marry an RM but would never in a million years have signed up to serve a mission herself.

Funny, because I refused to date any returned sister missionaries. I didn't need a senior companion.

This is obviously fairly narrow thinking. Anyone that didn't serve could be a total disaster. I'm sure there are nice attractive sister RMs who weren't totally overbearing. I just never met any of them when I was dating.

I think they have proven they can handle a serious Priesthood responsibility and therefor should be at least on an equal footing when it comes to Priesthood responsibilities in a marriage. Men should embrace that instead of fear it.
