So women can't hold the PH and can't preside over a family because God doesn't treat everyone the same. But men and women are still equal, although women can't preside over men, but we're still equal."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

How does this statement respond to my earlier questions to you about your kids?Originally posted by Moliere View PostSo women can't hold the PH and can't preside over a family because God doesn't treat everyone the same. When it comes to the church and ordinances I do treat my kids equally. They will each get the same ordinances and PH (for the boys). I'm no respecter of persons in that regard, although I guess I am indirectly since the church doesn't allow me to give the PH to my girls.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostHow does this statement respond to my earlier questions to you about your kids?"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. So why the selective equal treatment? Why not treat them equally outside of church?Originally posted by Moliere View PostWhen it comes to the church and ordinances I do treat my kids equally. I'm playing for the team that doesn't believe everything is as black and white as Moliere appears to think it is.Originally posted by UtahDan View PostWait, which team are you playing for? I'm usually the one arguing that given the choice of God being an inscrutable jerk or simply not existing...

Maybe if mortality was the be-all-end-all of our existence, you might have a point.Originally posted by UtahDan View PostWait, which team are you playing for? I'm usually the one arguing that given the choice of God being an inscrutable jerk or simply not existing...

Why didn't Christ ordain female apostles? Man, he missed a golden opportunity there. It also wouldn't have been a bad idea if he had included some multi-racial gentiles in the mix as well.

How do you know he didn't? Junia would be shocked to find this out.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostWhy didn't Christ ordain female apostles? Sorry, but there is hardly any scholarly consensus about Junia. Maybe she was the ancient analogue of Sis. Beck.Originally posted by UtahDan View PostJunia. Unless Paul was mistaken.

It's in the NT. That's like Categoy A in the house of scriptures.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostHow do you know he did?"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. Please do some more research. Regardless, even if she was an apostle, there is certainly no Category A evidence she was ordained by Christ himself.Originally posted by Moliere View PostIt's in the NT. That's like Categoy A in the house of scriptures.Last edited by Indy Coug; 03-29-2012, 01:10 PM.

Also, you could make a very long list of things the Mormon church does or has done that Christ never did. I can imagine that some people of faith would like the test you are using, but I don't think it is the best one for you.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostWhy didn't Christ ordain female apostles?
