The reason I say so far as I know is that I would not expect an organization like the LDS Church to provide me due process even though it mimicks trial process (like Stalin's show trials did).

In an unrelated story, mass turnout expected for BYU pre-game tailgates this football season!

Do you have any pull with Fred Davis? I could really use your help, if so.

Why are you poking at the manner in which they choose to resign? It is highly ceremonial and symbolic, which is probably a reflection of an aspect of the Mormon culture that these people can't leave behind, in spite of resignation.

I think that the unstated concern of people who are critical of this is that it might catch on.
              You got me.

First you somehow conflate my point with an unrelated constitutional point, and now this stuff about women's rights and mother Earth. I have no idea what you are saying, but I like it

It's funny how foolishly Mormonism makes everyone who comes into contact with it even those who reject it act. It wouldn't take much creativity to turn this actual mass resignation event into an Onion story. It's pretty funny as it is.

What I'm saying is that your recent shock-jock hit-and-run post in the Utah Valley fire thread was not appreciated. I'm sure you understood that point but I thought I'd explain it to anyone else that's interested.

Like I said, I'm not involved in this but I hope it can do some good.

It is one tiny step. But I do think it will raise awareness.

I don't think your are doing justice to what I said. Everything I said on that point is quoted above. What I was attempting to convey was the idea that raising awareness will hopefully lead to people talking which in time will lead to normalization which will lead to less hostility and that this is a tiny step in that direction. Because of this event, a lot of people are going to talk about this issue, which can only be good. Change happens when people are confronted with the "other" and see her as a human being.

I'm not trying to be difficult with you amigo, but I am remarkably weary of the "oh I'm sympathetic but they went about it all wrong" dodge I so often I hear from people who aren't sympathetic at all whether it is on this issue or others. This is one of the reasons I liked Coach's response.

I don't think I have commented about a Utah Valley fire. Are you talking about when wuap posted a photo of a Waldo Canyon fire (Colorado) that showed a picture of a burning house with a car in the driveway, and then I followed that by suggesting that Ox might find a car there, if it was close to Denver? If so, what does that have to do with the first amendment and mother earth?

                              Yikes. That seems awfully condescending.

First of all, why is that a dodge? Could it be that the statement is sometimes true?

Second, what makes you think that YO is one of the "people who aren't sympathetic at all"?

If you compare something to Hitler or Stalin that doesn't involve actual mass murder, you automatically lose the argument. Sorry.
