Probably used the wrong word. I just mean to convey that the Mormon Stories brand does not seem the direct route to accomplish what I think he wants to do. Which is simply to provide emotional support and shepherd people, not to be involved in apologetics.

John Dehlin has put together a helpful group.

      I guess I missed it.

      helpful group = important?

Nobody knows this, which is one of the problems. I just assume all the speakers get something. I mean, it's obvious Dan Witherspoon gets compensated. John Dehlin gets compensated. But no one knows how much. Was Dehlin's trip to NYC a boondoggle paid for my MS or did it come from his own pocket? Actually that question is irrelevant as they are one in the same....thus the issue.

A set salary with financial disclosures would go a long way but the MS board wants to keep that under wraps apparently. I just found that interesting given the multiple times I've heard people complain on MS (FB site and website) about the lack of financial disclosure by the lds church.

My guess is that persons who feel like they are getting help from MS find it important. I wouldnt worry too much baout it, if you remain confiused, as it was just a silly post anyway.

Different people in the group are going to have different opinions on the matter. When you can identify specific people who argue that the church should be more open with their financials, but MS should be closed, and if you can nail them down as saying that MS and the Mormon church are the same kind of financial entity regarding their ethical obligations to keep transparent ledgers, THEN you might have a point. Otherwise you are just dropping the word 'hypocritical' like a fart in their locker room.

Nonsense. I would be shocked if there was more than a tiny handful of people in that group that believe the church should not disclose financials.

That is beside the point. The question is whether or not the word 'hypocrisy' applies to some, all, or none of the group.

My point is simply this -- no one has made a case for hypocrisy.
