    Signs of the Second Coming

Wife is teaching a lesson on Signs of the Second Coming tomorrow. Awesome topic. Any thoughts?

What are some signs of the second coming?

Wars rumors of wars....reference any current military or political conflict

        Plagues....reference AIDS and homosexuality

Calamity....reference global warming and changing weather patterns

2 prophets dead in the street in Jersusalem...point out that the prophets are probably LDS missionaries and that this one stil hasn't been fulfilled

People call evil good and good evil...reference BKP talk and a nod to "Mothers Who Know"

Also, reference the general wickedness in the world and if possible, cite a few examples of people that do not like Mormonism...Prop 8 prostesters would work here if you are in a pinch.

I truly wish I were attending your ward tomorrow. Please take notes and report back.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Ok, I'll be one of the ones who gives a serious answer.

                      Isaiah 2:2.

And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow into it.

I like to think one of the signs of the second coming were the Olypmics coming to Salt Lake City. I regret not volunteering back then, I was too worried about school and didn't know that there were going to give us a week off. Wish they had told us that earlier!

Anyway, I remember watching the opening ceremony and thinking how the whole thing was a metaphor for the restoration of the gospel and I immediately thought of Isaiah 2:2.

Thanks. I like this one, especially since it happened in the context of the bribery scandal.

I've also always liked the argument that the the city lights=stars falling from the heavens. I paid a lot of attention to that sort of thing when I was a kid.

This sort of topic is absolutely golden. The Church needs to keep the unusual stuff in the lessons. Instead, the Church has been making things increasingly bland.

My AP US/European history and government teacher in high school used to love talking about Jesus descending from heaven into the middle of the stadium during opening ceremonies. That always made me chuckle.
