    The Next Mormon Schism

It's going to happen--it's just a matter of time. What are some things that could cause a great Mormon schism? (I'm talking about something that could cause 5% or more of the active members to leave the Church.)

In the words of the poet:

I don’t know where this came from. Like I said, I don’t think anybody on this team knows what schism is, let alone could use it in a sentence. I thought it was an STD when I first heard it. And I was like whoa, we preach abstinence around these parts.

"And here’s what life comes down to—not how many years you live, but how many of those years are filled with bullshit that doesn’t amount to anything to satisfy the requirements of some dickhead you’ll never get the pleasure of punching in the face." – Adam Carolla

Are you talking about the coming Mormon jism schism?

Golf is bourgeois and not something that Christ would do. Golf courses should be cultivated or turned into mixed-income housing.

Obviously you've never heard this quip, I'm surprised DDD hasn't ever hacked it before.

A priest, Jesus, and an old man tee off. The priest drives the green within 5 yards of the hole.
Jesus slices the ball and it goes into the water hazard. He quickly runs across the water and hits his second onto the green 2 inches from the hole.
The old man tees off with a short worm burner that trickles into the hazard. Soon after a fish eats the ball and swims across the pond with it in its mouth. Just then an eagle swoops down and snatches the fish with the golf ball and flies off. The eagle loses its grip and drops the fish on the green. The fish then spits out the ball and it rolls into the hole for a hole in one.
Jesus turns to the old man and replies, "Play fair dad!"

I think most physicians will leave the church. The Handbook of instructions will hang by a thread, but a family practitioner and Utah med school grad from the southern regions will save it. This is known as the White Coat Prophecy.

Without mentioning names in my post, I was wondering who would lash back, stabbing me in the heart. Now I know.

I don't see a schism ever happening and here is why. In the days when there was actual schism, the biggest threat to the church was people believing the current leadership was in apostasy and forming their own church. Today the biggest threat to the church is secularism, no close second. So people who are bothered enough by this or that to leave will simply vote with their feet and not have a church after that. I don't see any chance of a schism.

If it happens, I think it will happen due to the excommunication of one or more of the big 15.

That's not lashing. I was being playful; if you want lashings, I was a terrible Scoutmaster.
