I suppose it might be in somewhat bad taste to pick favorite GA's, but Elder Uchtdorf is all alone in first place in my book. Both of his talks today were outstanding but I thought he really knocked it out of the park with his talk on pride in the priesthood session. Excellent topic, brilliantly worded, and delivered with just the right tone. I especially like that he avoids the dramatic pauses and the sing/song intonation. Rather than beating the guilt-inducing drum of obey-obey-obey, he inspires and motivates. I like his style.

I was just going to start a similar thread. Speaking of the prophet, did anyone else notice just how theatric President Monson's talk was last night?
It was the most theatrical that I have ever seen him in conference. And that is saying a lot. He's not usually devoid of animation in his talks by any means.
Last night, he was in rare form.

It was creepy, and almost glenn beck-ian.Originally posted by Portland Ute View PostSpeaking of the prophet, did anyone else notice just how theatric President Monson's talk was last night?

You all are hijacking my thread.Originally posted by RedSox View PostI'd be more inclined to listen to his words if he would just talk normal and quit making up stories about caring for every widow in Salt Lake County."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Uchtdorf is great. And he's a real hit with the ladies from what I understand.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostYou all are hijacking my thread.
I was a little irked that they didn't pick a Latino instead of Uchtdorf, but it seems like the powers that be know more than I do once again.
Sorry for the hijack.Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

I will have to read the talk again, but I think he gave an exact number, 102. I think if he was making it up, it would have been a much bigger number. 102 isn't that many. I think I have dated that many.Originally posted by RedSox View PostI'd be more inclined to listen to his words if he would just talk normal and quit making up stories about caring for every widow in Salt Lake County.

If it's all true, then there's a special place in heaven for him. I just can't see how he had the time to do everything he said he did. On the other hand, I really just can't stand his voice, so I'm obviously prejudiced.Originally posted by byu71 View PostI will have to read the talk again, but I think he gave an exact number, 102. By the way, it's President Uchtdorf. Show some respect.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostI suppose it might be in somewhat bad taste to pick favorite GA's, but Elder Uchtdorf is all alone in first place in my book. I have a feeling that Uchtdorf and Eyring are going to be running the church for awhile here in a little bit (think of Hinckley and Monson from the late 80s through 1994). Maybe it was just me, but Pres. Monson didn't look so hot and BKP looked worse. Perry still seems to be pretty spry.
I can't help but wonder sometimes if Pres. Uchtdorf has a speechwriter. He's always hitting them out of the park.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”
