I never wear a suit but pretty much always a white shirt and tie. I'm the yin to your yang."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I still rock a short white some of the time. I used to do it because it was awesome and comfortable. But now that I know that it tick's DH off, I'll be doing it weekly. I will add another experience... I went to an early morning stake priesthood meeting on "respecting women" (by the way, leaving your wife home alone to get all of your kids ready for church on the morning of a baby blessing is not a great idea, even if you are learning how to respect her more). Young men were encouraged to come to this meeting as well. So they showed a slide show of pictures taken of the girls in the stake (in full pioneer garb) while on trek. They talked about how girls are not objects and that we shouldn't look at them as objects but as friends and daughters of God, etc. etc. Later on in the meeting a counselor in the stake presidency gets up and restarts the slide show of pictures and says these girls are much better to look at than me so I will run this duing my talk. I got a laugh out of the irony of that statement."Friendship is the grand fundamental principle of Mormonism" - Joseph Smith Jr.

By all means. This is the kind of fashion I've learned to expect from doctors. I won't name names.Originally posted by San Juan Sun View PostI still rock a short white some of the time. Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Same here. May be overloading on the yin.Originally posted by Moliere View PostI never wear a suit but pretty much always a white shirt and tie. I'm the yin to your yang.
I used to go with the short white pretty regularly. A few years ago, though, I stopped buying the short sleeves since they don't work in the temple.Originally posted by San Juan Sun View PostI still rock a short white some of the time. I add to the yang and always wear a suit. I usually don't go with the white shirt but usually always wear a tie. (A bolo tie counts, right?)Originally posted by Pelado View PostSame here. May be overloading on the yin."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

I love this line from the CH:
"After a priesthood holder hands a sacrament tray to a member, others may pass the tray from one to another for convenience."
Well, it's hard to imagine any of the other alternatives being quite as convenient as handing the tray to the person next to you.Nothing lasts, but nothing is lost.

But we don't need to be commanded in all things, dammit!Originally posted by Harry Tic View PostI love this line from the CH:

Apparently, we do. Here's another helpful clarification (CH 21.4.8): "Church members should not engage in any form of Satan worship [...]."Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostBut we don't need to be commanded in all things, dammit!
Good thing that was spelled out for us. You have to imagine that language came after some exasperated 70 or Area Authority finally went to the Q12 and said, "Look, I keep getting this question over and over again. Is there a policy on this or what?"Last edited by Harry Tic; 08-05-2013, 01:46 PM.Nothing lasts, but nothing is lost.

After watching the new temple movie, I, for one, am in the clear there. Phew!Originally posted by Harry Tic View PostApparently, we do. Here's another helpful clarification (CH 21.4.8): "Church members should not engage in any form of Satan worship [...]."

Yes, and we should just have the 12-year-old girls stand up while they do so.Originally posted by Harry Tic View PostI love this line from the CH:

When I was a priest, I used to sport a black silk shirt to church. I wore it with my tan corduroy suit, no tie, gold chain. I wasn't trying to make a statement...it was the 70's.Originally posted by Donuthole...I was only a deacon, but I remember there were two priests in our ward at the time who, mainly to spite my dad, wore all black every week when they blessed the sacrament (they were NKOTB wannabes, with baggy satin dress shirts, 5-pleat slacks, and black ties)."The mind is not a boomerang.
