They worked and she ended up being fine, though my kids were pissed. That's what I learned today.
YOhio joins the ranks of Clark Addison and SteelBlue, that's what I learned today.

    • Today was Stake Conference, and we learned the name of our new Stake Presidency.

The new SP is from our ward (as was the incumbent). For the 30 minutes after we learned who it was, my wife was searching for homes outside of our stake on her phone.

I like him more than she.

Did you tell her she wasn't supposed to be using electronics during meetings?

Since I was shooting off a text at the time, I decided the time wasn't right.

Hey, with any luck she'll rarely see him in your ward. Maybe he'll just be a figurehead for all practical purposes.

              Interesting.

I was most turned off by the obscenely long invocation. Time limit, people.
I have nothing else to say at this time.

              • I just learned that Friends of Scouting donations are sacred funds.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. One man's sacred is another's profane.

                    • I had the pleasure of hearing someone breathlessly relate the footprints in the sand story in HPG meeting. He seemed to think no one had ever heard it.

                      • I learned the old timer HPs who always sit in the back of the room during phood opening exercises can't hear the b-ric member doing announcements and decided to complain about it today. The bishop proceeded to stand up and point out there were two rows of empty seats at the front. Point: bishop. Will the deaf old timers change their seating habits? Of course not.

                        • The missus gave an excellent talk on marriage. I believe she is the only speaker throughout the Church today who quoted from Ecclesiastes, the D&C, a Toyota commercial, Pahoran and Bobby Knight.

It's amazing how long prayers can get when people have a chance to pray in front of an apostle.

That's why some General Conference prayers are almost as long as talks.
