Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

I'm with Niku. Kids are fine, but they shouldn't be allowed in public places. And if we do need to allow them in public, let's at least come up with some leash laws.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostOriginally posted by nikumanI hate children generally

this was my tactic.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostThe YW Prez spoke about how if our youth read The Work & Glory they will appear smart for reading thick books with many volumes and also be able to resist the temptation of cute college boys that want to take them into the woods and get them drunk.what I am is what I am and I does what I does.

One thing I noticed was that you can have all sorts of power if you show up every week or get a substitute when you are gone. I did this and I was basically given carte blanche on bringing treats or having class outside. The Primary Presidency was afraid to tell me to stop bringing treats (the stake was cracking down on treat bringers) because I was one of the only guys that actually did my calling in primary."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Currently I leave GD and EQ whenever I want. Now I have a calling, as well.Originally posted by Moliere View Post

Lol. That sounded harsher than it should. What I should have said is that I'm not fond of children who aren't my own - I don't "love" kids or just hanging around with them, and they find my continual sarcasm off-putting (again, except my own, who know what I'm about). But in spite of my generally low tolerance for children, I enjoyed primary very much.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostYou will be a great primary teacher.

On the bright side, this means I'll never be mistaken for a member of NAMBLA. And parents don't have to worry about leaving their kids alone with me - I want no part of that.Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

I didn't learn this in church, but I learned it in passing at church. We are not to ask the youth in the church, specifically the YW to help clean the building because requiring them to get up at 9:00 am on a weekend could ultimately lead to mental problems.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Noah would agree that this applies to YM as well.Originally posted by DrumNFeather View PostI didn't learn this in church, but I learned it in passing at church. Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Hey, those kids have to get up at 5 a.m. every day for seminary and then probably pretty early again on Sunday for church. Let them have Saturday to sleep in. Let them clean the church at 11.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostNoah would agree that this applies to YM as well. What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

I learned today that it's quite easy to leverage the need I have to clear rocks from my unfinished back yard against my Deacon's need to do a fund raiser. Yes I'm going to pay the Deacons to pick rock and they in turn will turn the dough over to the bishop to be used to help a needy family for Christmas.

This reminds me of a class I took at the U where the professor asked the class what was the most influential book they'd read. One dude said The Work & Glory seres. The professor (who I happened to know is LDS) had commented on every response to that point. He just sat there with a pained, confused look for a moment, then called on the next student.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostThe YW Prez spoke about how if our youth read The Work & Glory they will appear smart for reading thick books with many volumes and also be able to resist the temptation of cute college boys that want to take them into the woods and get them drunk."In conclusion, let me give a shout-out to dirty sex.
