Great question JL, it means the SP told those in the bishoprics at the bishop training he wanted 100 % and we have had announcements, talks by WC speakers, emails and so forth. Every Sunday the ward hears about it from us in EQ and HP and the missionaries carry on about it. We fast over it. I could go on but I won't.

I've got the reverse. I've actually done a little home teaching, but because the EQP or his counselor don't bother to ask if I've done it, so they gave me a goose egg

You should be returning and reporting.

I'm in the HPGL for the first time and asking for guys for their HT "numbers" is, by far, the worst part of the job. I haven't fudged the numbers, but I can understand why people do it.

Lots of HPs on here. Since I know you don't just get promoted because of age, but because of inspiration and advancement in spirituality, this board has some heavy hitters. We have a 54 year old elder in our ward, I tell him all the time how bad his testimony must be.

Being an old elder has got to be better than being a young HP.

We live in an older neighborhood, where the HPG already outnumbers the EQ. We have about 10 active guys in their 50's still in EQ. The bishop won't recommend anyone to move up, because he doesn't want any more disparity between the groups.

Nope. HPG doesn't get asked to setup for RS activities or to help people move. We just get the temple/cannery/storehouse assignments, which are usually in the middle of the day in the middle of the week so they are filled by the retired members. Plus, there's also no threat to be called as EQP.

My HPGL is a good friend. He hasn't once asked me for my numbers. When he was called I told him I was a 50% home teacher so I just figure he puts me down for that every month.

It used to be 55 was almost an auto-ordain. My grandpa was a bit peeved when they moved him on up. He enjoyed EQ. I don't necessarily enjoy EQ, but I am hoping to beat that since I plan to be only a 2/3 attendee of my ward for the foreseeable future. The strangest calling related ordinations are when someone is ordained in order to be put in the HP group leadership. Makes no sense to me at all.

I have only seen one non-calling related ordination in our ward since we moved in and the guy was on the verge of moving out of the ward for a one year assignment in Canada. He had just finished 5 years as the WML so maybe it was a reward. FWIW he was called as the HPGL upon return to the ward.

Management likes to spend its time where it thinks it is needed. I am not encouraging lying, but there is something to be said about freeing the burden on the backs of management by helping them to understand your part of the vineyard is doing just fine. In my perspective it is the Christlike thing to do and consistent with our covenant making to support management.

On the other hand if it is absolutely important to demonstrate to the world that you are right (while management is wrong), have "intellectual integrity" or your personality type just makes you a malcontent who struggles to get along and you are dying to come to this venue to whine like the women of Srbrnca about how picked on you are in the corporate mormon church then my guess is folks know what it is to tell management to get the response they are looking for. As for me and my house I learned that if I didn't always get ahold of people about their hometeaching I could let the Spirit distill upon me and feel inspired to give them the benefit of the doubt. I didn't have to bug folks on the phone, I had overwhelming spiritual experiences and management got the numbers they liked. Win!Win!Win!
