I'm not convinced that sitting through HP group meeting week in and week out isn't worse than all of those things combined.

Every time this comes up I suggest that we just assume that everyone is doing their HT and ask them to self-report otherwise. Everybody wins!

:swear: So that is how you HPs get such good numbers. Just wait until I tell management!

2-3 years ago our HPGL asked me to help develop a VB macro in Excel that would assist him in HT reporting. To develop the tool I had to have access to the HT data for our ward. I was surprised to see that our family had been home taught 100% for the prior three years. They must have been coming by when I wasn't home.

            But I didn't complain! I don't mind it when they don't come.

            • I had a divorcee and her family on my route until she recently moved out of the ward. She gave me a gift card to thank me for all the work I've "done over the years". I think that means I was paid for being a hometeacher. Does that mean I'm guilty of priestcraft now?

                • This discussion reminded me of a dramatic priesthood opening exercise in a wymount ward, lo these 20 years ago. The EQP, quite a charismatic guy, got up and asked the EQ 'if you weren't home taught last month, please raise your hand.' No hand was raised. He paused and then said 'Brethren take a look around. We achieved 100% HT for last month'. I was moved, as many others probably were. I resolved to continue to walk the 10-100 feet to visit each and every family on my list.

Later in a South Provo ward when it was my turn to worry about such matters, I tried a more light-hearted approach to address my quorum. I think we had been averaging in the 80's for a few months, but the latest month was dismal. I got up and said our percentage was '84 percent', then sat down. After a few seconds, I blurted out, 'oh wait, did I say 84 percent? I meant 48 percent'.

See, because it was funny that I switched the numbers around...

That's about the time I was there. I think I was in building 17A? I remember Guy Dorius was our bishop. I don't remember much about the EQ. But hometeaching was pretty easy.

                    • Our new and very young EQP was scheduling PPI's at 630pm-830pm at the church last night. I am not putting on church clothes that late on a Sunday night to have an interview w/ the EQP. If anything do it during church. Otherwise do one over the phone or come to my house. (End of rant)
( FYI I most likely wrote that incoherently and will be properly corrected forthwith. Thanks)

Why do you think you need to wear church clothes to a EQP PPI at the church on a weeknight? I go to EQP PPIs at the church all the time in street clothes.

Also, why would you go to an EQ PPI?

Never been to one in my life. Never been invited to one.

I've gone to one, and my car was broken into and the stereo stolen. I won't make that mistake again.
