71 I would have never thought of you as the board lesbian expert but it's good to see your interest expand beyond golf and the HC.

The messenger is more important than the message. I would have been deeply hurt and offended if certain people said that. Coming from you, I am sure it is some kind of compliment although I don't know how it is.

Take it as a compliment. I figured you knew because you follow the LPGA.

I wonder if he's hoping the church will pony up the $45k or if enough women will chip in with the hopes of getting their husbands out to do their priesthood duty.

Your post makes me wonder about visiting teaching. Do they keep records on visiting teaching? How does the percentages of visiting teaching done stack up vs home teaching?

Yes, records are kept. In fact there is a calling (visiting teaching supervisor) where 4-8 women only collect the stats. Yes, that's right, that is their entire calling and for some women it is very stressful.

VT numbers also beat out HT, but VT can be done by text or in the hallway at church. No in home visit is required, so there's no apples to apples comparison, but I can guarantee that in our ward the in house VT numbers would also beat out all Ht numbers any month of the year.

And in spite of that, most women spend 90 minutes or more on each VT visit.

Ouch, maybe that is the dirty little secret why they don't have the Priesthood. HT visits would be marathons.

A guy in my old ward in Texas already designed such an app, and then the Church shut it down. To ensure that his hard work didn't go to waste, he started reaching out to Catholic priests, who now use it to track who they visit each week to ensure that none of their flock slip through the cracks.

You can VT via text or hallway visits? Wow. Why are they not 100%?!

Catholic priests have to home teach too? Damn, those dudes need a raise!

I guess I'm not surprised, but it's always a little disappointing to me to see how quick the church is to shut down people that take the initiative to do something that they think would be beneficial. I remember when they sent out a letter a few years ago telling everyone that had designed an organization-specific website (for their ward or whatever) to cease and desist. No "thank you" or "we appreciate the effort but..." Just a blanket "knock-it-off."

For all the bromides about the church being run like a business, it doesn't seem very savvy when it comes to HR or boosting employee morale.

I would donate if the app did my HT for me.

Remember when one member removed the chapters and verse from the BoM to make it into a narrative. He was told to stop and his membership was threatened, only to see the Church offer the same format later?
