Then again most people wouldn't make a cheap copy of a well known painting, insert contemporary faces into it, and then pass it off as "fine art". Sure, some dimwit might slap down $500 for such a thing, but that's on them. You are correct that art is subjective, but that doesn't mean it's good. The reason a Pollock or Warhol are successful is their art is novel. It reminds me of the scene in Good Will Hunting where the Will character points out to a Harvard student that passing off original ideas as your own does not make you smart, it makes you an asshole. Pollock and Warhol might be serving you fries on your way to a ski trip, but at least they were original. So, whatever level of "success" McNaughton has from us discussing his cheap paint-with-numbers political statements, it's not as an artist. He's just a very successful asshole.

    How you like 'dem apples.

I was about to just reply by saying that this guy and Jackson Pollock are both artists the same way that Danielle Steele and James Joyce are both authors. But I think your take may be a bit more accurate.

Saw this on Facebook. I not sure it's a McNaughton but it looks like his work.

Now we know why Trump was the most pro-gay Republican President ever.

lol if Jesus is guiding Trump, I think I might have the wrong Jesus. In order for this picture to make sense, I guess I have to imagine a world where Trump comes to a sudden remembrance of his guilt and is on the cusp of despair when his hippie coke dealer Bob enters the room in a cloud of weed smoke and offers him a bump.

“Guiding.” Never heard it called that before.

                      • That painting makes me laugh. It kills me to think that someone would consider trump to be a jesus guy.

That interview when the reporter naively asked him what his favorite scripture is absolutely makes me laugh out loud. Trump is such a bad liar and an unconvincing bullshitter for a guy who has had a lifetime of hard practice.

Exactly. That guy hasn't cracked open a bible in his life.

My late mother (bless her heart) was convinced that Trump was a saint. She probably would have shared that painting on her FB feed.

You triggered me into taking a trip down memory lane and I re-watched the video of that hilarious exchange. Trump is the smartass kid who never studies but thinks he can BS this way through any question--technically, he can, but only the most uncritical listener can't recognize the vacuity of his answers. Still, he's great at self-marketing within his specific market and knows his fans love that the Bible is his favorite book. Absurd, but then I doubt he's read a book in decades, maybe ever.

Sometimes you forget how dumb and slow-footed he is in anything but the most sycophantic interviews. And this is just example one out of a hundred of how embarrassingly unprepared he was for the presidency. Ted can post the most cringe-inducing sound bite from Pelosi or Biden, but Trump is in a class by himself.

I'm convinced that my MAGA relatives and friends fully realize just how antithetical Trump's is to their morals. I think they're just tired of losing most societal arguments in today's arena and happy that anyone is 'fighting' for them.

Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."
