It just depends how you like it. If you cook it longer it gets a lovely crust on the outside and the pineapple is quite tender. Shorter cooking time leads to less of a crust, but more crunch. I have cooked it both ways and both are good. Either way, it doesn't take long to cook. Make sure you turn it frequently or the sugar will burn.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostYum! Cayenne? What kind? Also, I may do a few pieces sans chili because my kids don't dig spicy just yet. It sounds delish to me, though.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostNote DrunkTank's use of chili powder. A definite must on grilled pineapple, IMO. If just doesn't taste right without it.

How many pineapples do you need to buy for a family of 5 (and the dad is trying to adhere to fitday.com protocols)Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

We just use the bottle labeled "chili powder" which i believe is a mix of cayenne chili and cayenne paprika.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostCayenne? What kind? Also, I may do a few pieces sans chili because my kids don't dig spicy just yet. It sounds delish to me, though.

One decent sized pineapple should feed 5 of you, no problems.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

I can tell that there was a ton a pineapple and asparagus eaten this weekend, as I cooked them as well.
I also used JL's ginger garlic teryaki chicken and it was killer.
3D,
My wife and oldest daughter don't do spicy at all, but they didn't even notice the chili powder in the pineapple marinade. I just used a pinch. I could taste it because I knew it was there.

Agreed. My 3-year old daughter ate it without even knowing it was there. It is not a prominent flavor, but more of a backsplash to contract with all the sweetness. It definitely adds depth, and functions as sort of that final flavor that finishes off the dish.Originally posted by The_Tick View PostMy wife and oldest daughter don't do spicy at all, but they didn't even notice the chili powder in the pineapple marinade. Yeah, I think I used about a 1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon chili powder in the glaze. I then went all Emeril and BAM'd some more on the finished product. Not much though, just a light dusting."I can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking my head up a bull's a$$, but I'd rather take a butcher's word for it". - Tommy Callahan III

DT, I also made chimichurri. I went a little more heavy on the chili powder than I did on my dry run Wed night, which tasted better, but it was still delicious. I love cilantro!
Looks like we all had the same dinner on Sunday. What's on the collective menu for this weekend?"It's devastating, because we lost to a team that's not even in the Pac-12. To lose to Utah State is horrible." - John White IV

I was going to fire up the smoker and do a picnic shoulder, but, being as it is Priesthood Commemoration this weekend, I'll be camping. Not sure about Sunday though."I can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking my head up a bull's a$$, but I'd rather take a butcher's word for it". - Tommy Callahan III

I went to the local Costco yesterday and tried to buy some. They have this same photo up on the wall, but I couldn't find any. I asked them about it and they said that they don't carry it. Just flank steak. I have called several local grocers and get the same answer. From what I understand, skirt steak is more tender than flank steak. Correct?Originally posted by Drunk Tank View PostThe green stuff is chimichurri. It is an argentine sauce made with cilantro, flat leaf parsley, garlic, red pepper, and a few other things. It is super flavorful. I posted my recipe in the other thread http://www.cougaruteforum.com/showpo...38&postcount=6
Skirt steak
I buy mine at Costco. They sell it as "flap meat"
BTW, I used the grilled pineapple recipe you posted, it was great. I didnt have any lime juice, so I used a 1T. of tequilla I had instead. It was great."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Yes. I bought mine at Snider's Meat. Terrific place to buy meat, as they have a huge selection of cuts and very knowledgable employees. They'll cut you whatever you want if you don't see it displayed, and they'll tell you how to cook it if you are unsure.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostDid you find skirt steak locally?"It's devastating, because we lost to a team that's not even in the Pac-12.
