    Snider's is awesome.

Hey, ER. Have you posted this elsewhere? I'd like to give it a shot.

So it's that time of year again. For those of you who are cooking Mother's Day dinner, what's on the menu? Looks like last year the skirt steak was the dinner of choice.

Last year I had a hard time deciding what to cook my Mom because she's got all the traditional Sunday dinners down cold. This year I'm cooking for my in-laws, and I've got another problem.

My FIL is on a very restrictive diet. He's tried many different fad diets over his lifetime, but he's finally hit on one that he's sticking to and seems to really be helping him (he's a Type II diabetic) so I want to make sure whatever we serve fits in to what he's trying to do.

Basically, he's eating fruits, vegetables, beans, and whole grains, but no bread). No meat, no milk, no sugar, low fat. (Hey look, it's the Word of Wisdom - who knew?) I've never cooked a vegetarian sunday dinner. Ideas?

I have a recipe for a white bean salad that looks pretty good. Maybe a good fruit tray? I may still grill some meat for the rest of us if I can come up with something substantial for my FIL so he won't be left grazing while the rest of us chow down.

Try grilling the fruit for dessert - let the sugars carmelize a bit - really good.

Any suggestions? Last year we grilled pineapple. What other fruits are good to grill?

They are hard to find this time of year, but I like peaches.

I may be small, but I'm slow.

Any stone fruit - peaches, plums, apricots - is good. I agree with pineapple and mango as well.

Think I am doing grilled salmon with a teriyaki marinade this year, grilled asparagus and ??? Probably some type of a rice dish.

Everyone wanted skirt steak w/chimichurri again.. But now that I remember that's what we had last year...nope.

I think I'll do Bananas Foster for dessert.

Haricots verts a l'ail (green beans with garlic)
Pommes de Terre Savoyard ) Potatoes with gruyere cheese
Les fruits et fromages (fruits and cheese)
Negus en chemise (Dark cocoa pudding with sour cream)
A cup of Pero to finish. Bon appetit.

Time to bump this thread again...

Mother's Day and TK1's bday fall on the same day again this year. They have requested ribs.

TK1 likes wet ribs, mommy likes dry ribs. I am going to do the dry in the smoker.

Anyone willing to post their favorite wet rib cooking methods?

I am taking suggestions for side dishes also...

The YW leaders in my ward are brilliant. For their girl's camp fund raiser this year, they are doing Mother's Day dinners. Passed out the menu in Priesthodd. For $45 I get a meal full meal for 6 delivered to my door. All I have to do is heat it up.

                            They will make a killing.

My ward does that. They raised all of their funds with that one project. Too bad the leaders did 90% of the work.

I'll be cooking teriyaki salmon on the grill again this year.

Wife likes salmon. Kids aren't huge fish fans. Both love this recipe - which I first discovered on this site.
