  • I want to add my witness to the many witnesses before that Lebowski's gigner snaps are indeed delicious. I made them after church today. My wife was skeptical but was quickly won over.

We make yours or chrisnrt's about every other week. Both are amazingly good and simple.

              1 cup butter
              3/4 cup sugar
              1 cup brown sugar

              2 eggs
              2 t vanilla

              3 cups four
              1/2 t salt
              3/4 t baking soda

              1 cup chocolate chips

Cream the butter and sugars together. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Combine the dry ingredients and add to the rest. Then the chips (can't remember the quantity of chips for sure - go with what looks good.)

IMO, the best chocolate chip cookies are still a little gooey when you pull them out of the oven and put them on a cooling rack. That will give them the best consistency when you eat them a few minutes later. In my oven, that means 340 degrees for 12 min.

Don't overmix. There is a significant difference between doing this all by hand with a wooden spoon (preferred) and using beaters or a mixer.

This is a very simple recipe, but with real butter and vanilla, you can't go wrong. I usually cut this recipe in half and make 24 cookies.

Got a cookie urge tonight and these turned out delicious and were well received. Thanks for the assist. This is becoming a go-to thread for me.

On a side note, we have just recently discovered convection baking. My wife thought I was some kind of cookie genius until I told her about it.

                1/4 cup granulated sugar
3.4 oz. package vanilla instant pudding mix
                2 large eggs
                1 teaspoon vanilla extract
                2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

                1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
                1/2 cup white chocolate chips

My sons just called these the best cookies in the world.
Tried these today. We didn't have vanilla pudding mix so I substituted butterscotch. I was tempted to modify the chip ratios for fear of 'scotch overload but ultimately went with the recipe amounts. I'm glad I did because they turned out delicious. My wife's response was "another win for your boards." I'm pretty sure this is her favorite thread.

Not necessary. I only mentioned that because your times may vary. Take them out when they are still a little soft and let them sit on the pan for a few minutes before you move to the cooling rack. Experiment until you find the texture you like.

I'll admit that I make these regularly and never give attribution.

My wife's bosses constantly request these, especially during the holidays. I'm eating the last of the triple batch we made this week as I type.

We also made plates of these, Grandma Taylor's sugars cookies, and a modified recipe of Toll House chocolates chip cookies to give to neighbors this year. A Saturday of cookie baking has become a hioliday tradition at our house, and has made us very popular in the neighborhood.

                          • I made this recipe for neighbor gifts this year, and now several women are aggressively pursuing me for my "Cougarboard Cookie recipe." Q for HuskyFreeNorth: I want my cookies to look more rounded like yours, but they are much flatter. Do you measure your flour by the dipping method? Do you use more flour than called for? My rolled balls of dough look exactly like dog poo.

The ginger snaps? Mine come out flatter as well. I remember that HFN's looked much different early on. Curious to see what the difference is, or if there is one.
