Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Where do you turn this feature on/off? I can honestly say I've never had my aim taken off one target and on to another by the game.

Maybe it has happened but you don't realize it because you are moving so slow (3 or 4 )

I definitely started to notice it more when I moved up my sensitivity. That might be it.

Funny, but I can vouch that it has happened to me many times in the past (and I just figured out how to change the setting). I actually didn't think that raising the speed made much of a difference in my close-range game, and made it a lot harder to aim with my longer-range ARs (I think I was using the FAL--was getting really frustrated with my inability to hit any target).

                  • FN's example is the most common example of why Auto Aim sucks. Haven't you noticed when your sights 'shrink' when about to aim? That's the auto aim assist as well. That's how people quick scope, its not because they are amazing aims, the auto assist locks on for them.

I agree that the entire principle of auto-aim is kind of stupid but I wonder what it would be like to play without it available to anyone. Maybe we would all end of using shotguns and knives only because it would be too hard to hit anybody without that little bit of help.

And also steady aim pro and slight of hand pro. It does take practise but i agree with what you said. I much more impressed with the snipers that catch you in a distance, on a flat run.

                            fus, what's your look sensitivity?

I'm interestested to see if HL has noticed aim assist. Or perhaps I've never had it on this whole time.

It seems like there's probably some truth the thought that its much more noticeable/useful with higher sensitivities. Maybe at level 2 its not even really doing anything b/c you shouldn't need it at that speed?

The default is to have auto-aim turned on. I don't even know if you can turn it off.

I noticed auto-aim in two types of cases (both with joystick sensitivity set to 2):
When somebody ran right across my view, as Phat mentioned.

When aiming at long grass that an enemy had been hiding behind. When he moves, the gun will follow him.

I only mention having it off b/c I read on some other forum that you could turn it off if you didn't like it.
