I'm getting a DNS error. When I try to set my router manually I don't have the proper DNS number thus I have to connect to my router using the 'easy' setup which sets my NAT type to strict. Typically I'm the person that's starts the party, now I can only invite one person.

Is it the PS3 that tells you about the DNS error? What brand router do you have (and if you can't remember that, what does it look like)?Originally posted by fusnik View PostI'm getting a DNS error. All I hear is that its time to upgrade to the 360. In all my online gaming experience I have never had a domain name problem before. Always a great connection, but thats most likely due to the fact that I buy superior products like the 360.Originally posted by fusnik View PostI'm getting a DNS error. INteresting. I have a similar one (maybe the same router!). Do you know whether you've got a dynamic ip vs. static ip? I'm not sure this matters or not, but I'm just trying to collect all the potentially relevant information.Originally posted by fusnik View PostFalafal, this best be an indication you are playing PS3 tonight....I have a white NetGear router.
I'm going to try to go on the PS3 tonight, but it might not be until 9 or 10 MST. I'm taking my kids to a movie in the park thing.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

If its an issue of figuring out what DNS your router/computer are using, it shouldn't be too hard. This website will walk you through it.Originally posted by fusnik View PostI believe its static, IOW, I just set it and forget it. I can obtain an IP address but I don't know how to get the DNS info and the web isn't helpong much
http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/how-to-...rs-address-is/
It also lists several "public" DNS addresses from Google that (apparently) work well with PS3, xbox, and wii. I don't know how using one of those DNS addresses actually works though - IOW, can you just plug it in and go, or do you need to tweak some other settings? I don't know.
Some other people (who may or may not have this exact same problem) have suggested disabling the "media connection" on the PS3. I presume they are talking about the media server option. It seems to have resolved the DNS problem for a fair number of people. Who knows.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

We had a decent group last night that was highlighted by multiple kills with one Claymore, being dominated in domination, being unstoppable in TDM, a brush with a sports celebrity, and an F Bomb from niku.I'm your huckleberry.
