I understand in future episodes, we are going to hear from a whole host of child abuse experts. You going to watch, or is your mind made up? BTW, I find it odd that you would discount Ronan Farrow so completely. He played a critical role in bringing down Harvey Weinstein.
This is a pretty balanced critical review of the docuseries:
A new docuseries about the molestation allegation against Woody Allen is determinedly focused on making its case, sometimes at the expense of nuance.

Allen very well could have done what he is accused of, but I don't think this "documentary" will be that helpful in revealing the truth. While I found it interesting, it is very clearly biased in favor of Farrow. There are a lot of background facts that make Mia look pretty bad, if not downright crazy, that are completely left out. The first episode makes her look like a saint. While I'm not convinced she is the villain/child abuser that Soon-Yi has made her out to be here, I think the fact that all 5 of her adopted children are either alienated from her or dead (at very young ages) is pretty hard to overlook. I also didn't like how Mia took subtle jabs at Moses in the documentary, suggesting that he was "obsessed" with Woody, likely as a way to explain why he has taken Allen's side in this drama.
One thing I have never understood was why Allen was at Mia's house with the kids on the day of the alleged abuse, which was SEVEN MONTHS after Mia found out about the affair with Soon-Yi and apparently thought of him as a monster. Something doesn't quite add up there.
There are no innocent parties here it seems.Last edited by UVACoug; 02-23-2021, 10:12 PM.

There’s nothing mysterious about why Woody was at Mia’s house. He was visiting Dylan and Satchel per an arrangement negotiated by the lawyers. It was a visitation. Woody went to dinner with Mia after seeing the kids (he says it was “frosty”) and slept in Mia’s guest room that night.Originally posted by UVACoug View PostAllen very well could have done what he is accused of, but I don't think this "documentary" will be that helpful in revealing the truth. This article is from the NY Post and a controversial journalist who covers celebrities. Nevertheless, it’s interesting the way it catches Mia’s altered story describing wha happened when she confronted Soon Yi.
https://nypost.com/2021/02/22/put-me...is-full-of-it/
Two of Mia’s kids have committed suicide. That’s a lot.
Why is is this complicated? Start with that there is NO EVIDENCE. Cite a single stick of evieence. Then, the alleged circumstances, which defy common sense. Never mind the rest of Allens’ life and that every other person he’s been close to including all the women have defended him.
Speaking Weinstein, Allen has worked with a zillion beautiful women, he is, as The NY Times Book Review’s Dwight Garner wrote in his review of Allen’s memoir, “tone deaf” in his assessment of women. They’re gorgeous and super smart and talented, or he has no use for them. Also, in Allen’s prime, he was a cultural god (which is another reason this story won’t go away). Yet not one women has ever accused him of harassment. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

What does Ronan know? He doesn’t claim to have personal knowledge. He’s obviously taken his mother’s side, so he has no credibility, for one thing.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

Countless hours talking with Dylan for starters. In his recent book he talks about how his viewpoint on the case changed after working with the Weinstein victims. Hundreds if not thousands of hours interviewing victims would give him some valuable insights don’t you think? He says Dylan never wavered or changed her story.Originally posted by SeattleUte View Post

Well here is a woman who said Allen repeatedly had sex with her when she was 16 years old. Christina Engelhardt was only 16 when she first met Woody Allen in a New York restaurant. At the time, she was a blonde high school student with green eyes.
And this article blows up most of the claims you have been making, including the validity of the Yale-new haven report.

Blows up? A one page story in Vanity Fair? Because the author says it’s irrefutable? Where are her sources? Here is a rebuttal from Medium:Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

Here is the original story about the 16-year old. It has nothing to do with Mia’s accusation. This is from a better publication than Daily Mail and the first time the woman spoke about it, when she was 59:

That doesn't refute the claim at all. The whole article is like this.Orth further writes:
Judge Elliott Wilk, the presiding judge in Allen’s custody suit against Farrow, concluded that there is “no credible evidence to support Mr. Allen’s contention that Ms. Farrow coached Dylan or that Ms. Farrow acted upon a desire for revenge against him for seducing Soon-Yi.”
It’s true that Judge Wilk wrote that statement on page 20 of his ruling. And it’s also true that his statement is objectively false. There is a wealth of credible evidence to suggest as much. The fact that a single judge claims otherwise without describing the full amount of evidence in an objective manner reflects more on that judge’s own bias, rather than the objective reality of the evidence.
Huh? The content of that article is no different from the Daily Mail article. Woody Allen was secretly having sex with a 16-yr-old girl when he was 41 - showing a pattern of using his position of age, power, fame to seduce young girls. Yet you somehow continue to claim he is blameless and perfectly normal when it comes to women in his life.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostHere is the original story about the 16-year old. Love this: a battle between message board titans!
My take: Allen is super weird and pervy; what he did to Soon-Yi (a much older man seducing his life partner's underage adopted daughter?????) is terrible. No getting around that. I have no idea whether Allen or Dylan is telling the truth, but what Allen did to Soon-Yi (and his general attitude toward women) seems to suggest that Dylan's accusations are not outside the realm of possibility.

The shortness of the public's memory. Allen was vindicated, this was all behind him, he'd made many successful films with the most admires actors, then #metoo and related to that, Ronan's sudden fame, gave Mia a chance to reopen this. But we've learned nothing new. And of course HBO eager for $$$.
This shows what I've always said about capitalism. It makes everything possible and ultimately kind of spoils everything. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.
