By far my favorite traditional Christmas song has to be "Minuit Chretien" although it's tough to find a really good rendition of it. The MoTab English version (O Holy Night) was fabulous but the English lyrics can't hold a candle to the French lyrics.

Here's a decent version, but I'd prefer the MoTab singing it in French.

"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I like Mannheim Steamroller's versions of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and Pat a Pan

I may be small, but I'm slow.

A veteran - whether active duty, retired, or national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to, "The United States of America ", for an amount of "up to and including my life - it's an honor."

Has anyone mentioned Sufjan Stevens this time around? I like his Christmas album. A little on the mournful side but perfect for the right time and mood.

yeah. that box set is a bit more than an album. I can't remember how many songs there are, but it's well over 20. If anyone is interested, I can link you to it.

I think I just counted 43 songs on the version of that set that I have on my iPod (playing it in the office right now).

This is the only recording I can find, and it doesn't do it justice, but my H.S. Madrigal group sang this senior year, and it's an incredible song:

                "Dear Little Babe"

Other songs I really enjoyed singing in choir:

(we sang this in English, obvs)

Harry Connick Jr: Yea or nay? I remember it being a staple of my childhood Christmases (childhood being whenever the CD came out).

Sure. He's a great talent, whether you like his stuff or not. So is Michael Bublé.

These are not songs, they're albums, but good ones:

"Noel," by Josh Groban. He's a gifted vocalist, and David Foster produces. The interpretations, along with some new stuff ("Thankful" is great) are sweet Christmastime listening.

"Christmastime," by David Benoit. He's a jazz pianist and does some really nice things with both newer songs and old standards. For example, he takes the Vice Guaraldi "It's Christmas Time" song into a very nice new direction. Also great listening.

Your husband, however, is pretty doggone decrepit. It's sad, really . . . .

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zMhSjDqvRs"]YouTube- "Little Drummer Boy", David Bowie and Bing Crosby[/ame]

Perhaps my favorite Christmas song of all time.

Skip to about 1:40 if you want to skip the chit chat and get right to the music.
