I'm not sure if I've shared this before, but this will be my first Radiohead concert. I had tickets to see them at Saltair back after they released the Bends. They were scheduled to open for some remotely popular 90s band (Stabbing Westward?). I knew something was up when a white dude with long dreadlocks got up on stage with a guitar and started playing. Turns out RH was stuck in Denver due to snow (yeah right!) and couldn't make the gig. I was pretty mad, and due to my long held grudges I finally got them back when they released In Rainbows and I got a copy for $0. Now I'm even with them.

I'm looking forward to this concert and I'm glad they won't have to fight through snow to make it there.

Expect more of both – the fresh and the rare – over the next year. The day before the Miami show, backstage before a final production rehearsal, Yorke revealed that Radiohead have worked up more than 75 songs for this tour, including additional new songs and deep-track B-sides.

Pretty excited about seeing more new stuff and which b-sides they decide to kick out. Skirting On the Surface was listed as an alternative to Cut A Hole on the setlist, so that one should be surfacing (ha!) soon. And I'm anxious to hear it because it's one I've really liked since the solo debut. Come To Your Senses should also be in the mix, since Thom has mentioned that one by name. That makes 4 new ones and they said they wanted to have 4-5 ready for this tour.

Just a quick review/recap of the Radiohead concert while it's fresh in my mind.

We had horrible seats, up in the rafters of the Toyota Center. We were literally 5-6 rows from the top. I was very worried about the sound quality as I've attended concerts in the Delta Center (Live and Pearl Jam) and that place has a knack for reverberating sound off the ceiling, which creates a sort of echo effect. Very bad for concerts but I guess it's good for being loud while coming in 2nd place. However, the sound quality was great. No echo and it was clear all the way up in the rafters. The only odd thing was the obvious time lag between seeing the instruments played and the sound hitting you. You know you are a long ways away when teh drummer hits his stick together and you hear it 1/2 second later . Next time we'll be better at getting tix the minute they become available.

The biggest surprise was that I'd come away loving some of the "weaker" tracks on TKOL. Bloom was fabulous and I guess I just needed to hear it live to appreciate it. I've already listened to it a dozen or so times since the concert. Truly a remarkable song. Feral was also great.

I feel spoiled having heard Everything in it's right place, Airbag, Paranoid Android, There, There, Reckoner, and Idioteque all in the same concert. When I think about it though, there are probably 40-50 other songs I'd have loved to hear so it's nice they have such a huge catalog of awesomeness from which to choose.

Here's a quick recap of my favorites:

Bloom: Fabulous song and much better live.
Morning Mr. Magpie: Very well done and very clean. Fun song that got some people up and dancing in my area.
15 Step: MJ's favorite (thx Twilight!). She loved the version they did, which had a changed up intro and little different drumming (at least it seemed that way)
Codex: Simply the most beautiful song of the night. They wheeled out a piano and it was just Thom and the piano. Absolutely gorgeous and now a fav of mine.
Airbag: So nice to hear from my fav album (OKC) and one that got me singing and screaming along.
Lotus Flower: Not as clean as I would have liked. In fact, the more popular songs from TKOL seemed not as good live while the weaker ones were awesome.
There, There: They absolutely nailed this one. From my distance it looked like there were four drumsets going. Absolutely incredible song and it got MJ gooving to the beat. She is now a big fan of this song.
Idioteque: OMG, Thom's dancing/moving combined with the beat and me singing along.......seriously spiritual experience. I think I'd pay a lot of money to just hear them play Kid A (I'd pay more to hear OKC).
Reckoner: Beautiful song and very clean. They nailed this one as well.
Separator: Didn't like this version. They seemed to have left out the little high pitched guitar melody.
Myxomatosis: I've always liked this one and it was a lot of fun live.
Everything's in the Right Place: They wheeled out this little box and Thom was messing around on it, then he went into the little "waterfall" to begin this song and the crowd went absolutely nuts. Beautiful song and one of the best of the night.
Paranoid Android: I was hoping for either this or Karma Police and I got one of them. I'm not sure if there is a better song out there, at least IMO. MJ asked me what the song was about and I bored her with my 10 minute description of the theme of OKC. She liked the song but not my explanation judging my the fact she fell asleep in the car as I explained it.

One other thing, Thom's vocals are amazing. During the softer/quieter songs you can tell he's got amazing range and control. I was absolutely impressed by him.

So was it worth $350? Absolutely. On my way into work I was trying to figure out a way to get to Austin this week for the show over there. Too bad I have work and family duties to attend to.

One thing that annoyed me was how much people were moving around....and by moving around I mean going up and down the aisles getting drinks or going to the bathroom or whatever. I swear almost every song I had to stand up to let someone by in my aisle and it was everywhere, lower bowl, upper bowl. Also there was a lot of people talking even during the songs. Very annoying.

The set was awesome. They had 12 floating TVs that would move around after each song. I took a couple photos but his one is the best. You can see them move around a bit in the videos on the website MG posted. Here's one pic.
