I have a bad feeling about this.

Same plot. Same thing going from one planet to another. Same type of characters on each side. Same use of droids. Same space fighting. Same land fighting. Same dynamics within Rebel Alliance. Same dynamics within Empire. Same stormtroopers. Same jumping and climbing to get to something scene. Same bad guy always foils it at the end scene. Same everything.

edit: and that's fine. the last one did that, too, and i enjoyed it. but that one expanded the story and involved characters we care about or introduced new characters we knew were important to the star wars universe that we knew we'd grow with.

this one had all the boring aspects of star wars (thin plot, boring chase and fight scenes, lack of character development, etc.) without any of the good aspects.

I haven't seen it, probably won't, but I am curious. regardless of what folks think of the movie for good or bad, the one thing it seems most can agree on is that the last 15-30 minutes were really good/fun. What did you think of the last 15-30 minutes of the movie?

The last five minutes were really good/fun. Or maybe two minutes. The previous 30 minutes were excruciatingly dull. I paid $9 to watch the film. But I would have gladly paid $20 to leave 30 minutes early.

Oh man don't make me out to be more of a star wars apologist than I already am. I will concede that the same literary fantasy archetypes are employed- the same ones used in Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and all other fantasies. However: same plot? Wasn't this one about the child of an Imperial scientist who forges an alliance with a band of mercenaries and the rebel alliance to track down a planted flaw, reported by an AWOL imperial pilot, so that the alliance could have a chance of destroying the Death Star? Oh- that old chestnut.

Damnit... my son and wife want me to go to this today. Is it worst than "La La Land"? That was pure crap. I can't believe my wife made me go to that. Maybe I can "go and get some more popcorn" and watch some other movie.

Yeah. They were doing a hunt for the 'young han solo' a while back. I think most SW fans are pretty wary of this, and lots are asking 'why do we need a han solo origin film?,' but by all appearances they put together a great team. I think the directors from 21 jump street are doing it, and I personally like Donald Glover as young Lando Calrissian. Here he is chopping it up w the OG.

The family went out of town on Saturday, so I rented Rogue One. When I was able to stay awake, I enjoyed what I watched.

Is there an angry darth vader scene at some point, because I woke up around 1:30am completely freaked out by the sound of heavy breathing and screams and a bunch of laser-show like flashes before I realized I was not in hell, but on my living room couch.
