What's the worst concert experience you've had?

I saw Jefferson Starship - Grace Slick (she was out of the band at the time). Got talked into the show by a friend who thought it would be just like the old Jefferson Airplane (it wasn't).

Another concert was John Cougar before he switched to his given name of John Mellencamp. The concert didn't totally suck but wasn't real good. The clincher was in his 2nd encore peformance when he finally got around to singing I Need a Lover. It was his signature song and only top hit at the time. Waited through the entire show and first encore for him to finally sing it. So what happens when he finally gets around to singing it?! He gets the words wrong and sings the second verse twice. Then skips the third verse altogether and messes up again in the final chorus. He asks the audience to sing the final chorus with him and they get the words right but he doesn't. His final words, were: "Thank you Lincoln, Nebraska. You guys are the greatest..[applause]. Sorry I f*cked up. Good Night!'

Bad concerts? I can think of a few.

I took my girlfriend (now wife) to a Kenny Loggins concert at BYU when we were students. Believe it or not, it was in the MC. When it was time for the main event, they turned down the lights and the crowd started cheering wildly waiting for the lights to come on and the music to begin. Several minutes later the lights came on and somebody came out and said that Mr. Loggins fell off the stage (due to the darkness) and had broken his leg. Concert cancelled.

Also attended a Dan Fogelberg concert at the MC. When the show started he came out and announced that he didn't bring his band because he enjoyed playing solo sometimes. He mocked Brigham Young during the act and he just wasn't that good solo. Rip-off.

1. Blues Traveller, closing act of the 1996 H.O.R.D.E. Festival at Lakewood Amphitheater in Atlanta. I really only went to see 311, Lenny Kravitz, Dave Matthews, and Son Volt. It was outside, and it had poured rain, and after seven hours of music, and another twelve or so 6-9 minute songs by Blues Traveller, when John Popper dropped into another harmonica solo during their cover of "Low Rider," we got the hell out of there.

2. Jay and the Techniques. They only had one "hit," "Apple, Peaches Pumpkin Pie." They opened a triple bill for Peter Noone and the Grass Roots. 3. Sparta, July 6, 2002, at the E Center in Salt Lake. Tim and I saw this one together. Sparta opened for Dashboard Confessional and Weezer, and they were just awful. The crowd starting booing them, and the lead singer snarled into the mic, "YOU'RE FUCKING GODS INVITED US HERE" threw down the mic, and they left the stage for good. The crowd's reaction was to cheer like mad.

The crowd starting booing them, and the lead singer snarled into the mic, "YOU'RE FUCKING GODS INVITED US HERE" threw down the mic, and they left the stage for good. The crowd's reaction was to cheer like mad.

I was in attendance. You got the story right, but it was September 17 2001 and the band was Cold opening for Weezer and there was no Dashboard Confessional. They powered through the last song, got mild applause, and the lead singer, to his credit, threw up the weezer "W" to the crowd's approval. I was worried Rivers would take it out on the crowd because that guy was right-- Weezer invited them to open because Rivers has a thing for butt metal.

I saw her perform during halftime of Game 3 of the 2003 NBA finals. She "performed" her new hit "Intuition". I parenthesize "performed" because she was, quite obviously, lip synching.

I haven't gone to a lot of concerts but The Cure was one that I wish I hadn't. We actually got greats seats on like the 6th row. I was very excited to see the show, but once they started playing I realized that I only liked a couple of their songs.
