I'll have to read the Hobbit again before I go see the movie.

2012 looks like a good year for movies so far. I hope I'll be able to see them all before the world ends.

      I just re-read the Hobbit.

I don't know if I will see the movie. I only saw the first LOTRs movies.

Finally, the long-rumored news has been confirmed....Pete will be filming The Hobbit at 48 frames per second! :rockon1:

        http://www.ksl.com/?nid=156&sid=1897...d-to-48-frames

Digital cameras allow for shooting at 48 frames or faster, reducing the flickery, blurry effect known as strobing that can come with 24-frame filming.
Adios, strobing. No more of that annoying flickering and blurring that was so distracting in the LOTR trilogy.

I haven't seen any movies in the theater in 2012 because none of them seem that good, but I am looking forward to the Hobbit.

Interesting. What movies did you see at home or by other viewing methods?

To be fair, not a ton of movies have come out in '12 yet. I think I've only seen one or two in the theater so far.

She could be on fiscal year 2012.

Sounds like the 48 frames per second thing went over like a lead balloon in the sneak-peak.

Since I'm no film student, educate me. Why would this be a problem?

                        But not this lead balloon.

Sounds like it's weird to adjust to?

I think the complaint, and I am sure others actually know what they are talking about, is that the very high number of frames, makes the film too clean or realistic, too HD, and that doesn't work well for movies, especially all CG ones. Good for football, bad for hobbits.

I hope this is nothing like the "smooth" picture that many of the new TV's come pre-set with. That looks awful.

You can change the setting at home ya know. I only discovered this recently myself as it was driving me crazy.
