Daenerys' story is pretty boring, especially after it seemed so full of promise in the first season. I'm really pretty bummed that Khal Drogo isn't around right now. He never even got do to anything.

I do think the Qarth story got a bunch more interesting after the black dude "dealt" with the council of 13.

I'm pretty sure Daenerys' story or lack thereof is a victim of the series going from a trilogy as originally planned to now a 7 book series. Kind of ruins the rest of the Westeros drama if you have huge dragons pillaging the land. Same with Jon Snow and the white walker threat, can't have a zombie swarm going on quite yet.

The surprise of the wildling not being as wild as you imagined is supposed to happen, they aren't the wild savages most tell their children about. But they probably did make her a bit too groomed and beautiful regardless.

But yeah wildlings are just people living in the wild, white walkers are the ancient beasts of lore that seem similar to smart zombies.

It is mentioned several times in the books that the only difference between the wildlings and the "kneelers" is that when the wall went up, the wildlings happened to be on the wrong side.

Yeah, this is GRRM retooling the story to last a lot longer. You meet a lot of new characters in Qarth and it sets the stage for the next phase for Daenarys.

Daenary's story is coming, but I can understand why viewers have been bored with her story line this season. Also as a fan of the books it is a little annoying how they have altered her story a bit.

I thought his wound was purposely made worse by the captured healer (medicine women) who Danerys insisted treat Khal Drago. I thought she (medicine women) admitted to as much before she was burned alive in Drago's funeral pyre.

That's exactly what happened. Miri Maz Dur killed Drogo.

I thought the implication was pretty clear that he was going to die. The medicine woman technically delivered on her promise to save his life, but he was not really "alive."

I think you are right. The infection was killing him. The medicine woman kept his body alive technically delivering on the promise and then Daenarys had to finish him off. At least that is how I remember it too.

More accurately, Khal Drogo was comatose - just lying there breathing and staring out into space. I think the zombie mode term should be used with the undead wights - reanimated corpses raised from the dead by the White Walkers. Now that's a zombie!

i haven't read beyond page 100 of the second book, but i'm up to speed on the series. i absolutely love the exchanges between Arya and Tywin Lannister. The discussion about Harenhal and the Taegyrian dragons that destroyed it, followed by Tywin telling her she is too smart for her own good was terrific.
