I gotta say-- I wasn't sold on the Cure based on their radio hits. It wasn't until I came across an old tape of All Mixed Up, featuring that fantastic Closet Mix of Close to Me that I started to get reeled in.

I think the point of the thread was pretty clearly defined by the first post. Indy was talking about songs you heard on the radio that made you think you weren't going to like a band, but when you went beyond those songs you did in fact like that band.

Thus, I see/saw no connection between your comment and the thread. Unless your point was you heard Buddy Holly on the radio and didn't think you'd like them based on that, but when you heard Blue you actually did. But I don't think that was your point.

Plenty of people knew how good the blue album was. They didn't exactly hold back their best songs for b-sides on the blue album: Buddy Holly, Say it Ain't So, and Undone are all kickass. Hell, even Pitchfork still covers Weezer releases on the strength of that album. I digress- start a Weezer thread, threadjacker.

Every radio hit by Cheap Trick is awful. But they have some jewels on most of the albums from the 70s.

Yeah, completely ambiguous. It's not like the title question was explained with a concrete example of what was meant or anything.

But even with all your questions about what it means to be hurt, your comment still doesn't make sense in the context of the thread.

You may disagree, but I think that Weezer had some awesome songs on the blue album that were never/seldom played on the radio.

Obviously this is a comment about NOT getting played on the radio. Even if you impose an ambiguity that isn't there, your comment still doesn't line up with any potential response under the question. The question was about songs that get played on the radio.

You mean Provo's own Neon Trees? The whole album is kind of fun and peppy (hard to believe from a bunch of middle class Mos, I know). I heard Animal on Alt Nation a year or so ago and downloaded the album before I knew of the Provo connection. It is a good compromise when I have to drive youth in my car. I can't stand most of their music and I don't want them to know what type of music I prefer.
