I don't see myself inking a subscription to get Disney's table scraps.

The ESPN stream, however, I like. The downside is that odd FoxSports1 or whatever football game that nobody can get. They really are extremely late with this, too, since they are hemorrhaging $ as it now stands.
Everything on cable is take it or leave it for a huge majority of the population except for sports and cable news to a far lesser extent (I can leave that). Disney recently bought a controlling interest in MLB's streaming entity. They're going to of course integrate ESPN into an overall package to compete with the likes of Netflix. Having a subscription to Netflix is an afterthought, $10 a month or whatever it is and they've built up an enormous customer base. Giving $15 to Disney will likewise be a no brainer if they have a crapload of content like Netflix in addition to espn.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

    • Apparently the ESPN can't broadcast any of the big games on an over the top streaming service. So, thanks but no thanks.

Yeah Disney is too greedy to go small like that and provide the consumer with a great value. Sounds like they will have an entire separate service for Marvel/Lucasfilm works. For the record, I never streamed Star Wars on Netflix. Who doesn't own that movie? I think it only adds prestige to Netflix' selection and they are going to be sorely disappointed with their subscription numbers if it goes down like they are planning. They think they are losing money by licensing to Netflix rather than doing all the heavy lifting themselves? This has debacle written all over it.

        • Stupid movie industry. When will they ever learn that the best solution to piracy is a cheap monthly streaming service that includes almost everything? Haven't they learned anything from Spotify?

          • My kids used to watch some of those dumb Disney station TV shows. I'm assuming if you pull together all of the crap Disney has ever put together, they could come up with a pretty extensive inventory. Can't testify as to the quality, but they'll have quantity for sure.

            This will be interesting.

And who wouldn't part with a measly $15 a month to have such classics as "That Darn Cat," "Davy Crocket," and "The Black Hole" at their fingertips??

Are they going to have all of the old Disney Sunday Movies? I could really go for some Help Wanted: Kids or perhaps The Leftovers with John Denver and a young Urkel.

Was just talking about this one with a guy in the office a couple weeks ago. It featured Mr. Mister's "Broken Wings."

I really liked the basketball scene where the "dad" plays in his loafers.

Spotify is killing it, btw. Poor Apple can't go back in time and come out w Apple Music first. Serves em right for putting all those electronic restrictions on their iTunes music, the greedy f*kers. You can now stream Spotify on your xbox while you're playing your games. (That is amazing in case you are not a gamer loser that understands the significance of that.)

Is that where they play one-on-one to determine if the kids are going to continue the arrangement? If only it was available on a Disney-direct streaming app, I could watch it again to refresh my memory.

Yep, something like that. The dad has got some skillz once he loosens that tie.
