The thing that triggered ET for me was the kids playing Dungeons and Dragons circa 82.

It brought back a wave of nostalgia. I loved the synth music. I loved the nods to D&D and X-Men. The show reminded me of Amblin era Spielberg, ET, Amazing Stories, Steven King, Cameron Crowe, etc. The kids were great. The girl who played Eleven was outstanding. Really fun story that was tightly written and directed. No filler. Each episode advanced the plot with a satisfying ending. It almost felt like I was watching a summer blockbuster movie instead of a tv show. This show is what I hoped Super 8 would be and I liked Super 8.
I wonder if season 2 will continue the story or not. I'm undecided which way I want it to go. I'm leaning towards each season being it's own thing because I liked the way this season ended."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

I thought the series was just ok. Maybe my expectations were elevated because of early rave reviews like the ones in this thread and others on fb. Ultimately pretty unsatisfying without being as engaging as Lost. The 1983 nostalgia was really fun, though."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! We finished it last night. It was fun.
Lost sucked, btw. Hated that series."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

That thing had you watching 6 seasons of hour-long episodes while providing basically no answers along the way. And the characters were so awesome- Benjamin Linus? Are you kidding me? One of the greatest villains ever. Stranger Things-- I kept going on the strength of the reviews and the fact there were only 8 episodes. So Last Chance U just dropped on Netflix last Friday. It's a 6-part documentary of JUCO football, the last chance for kids who didn't make it to a Division 1 school, featuring East Mississippi Community College.
