The "did you know this streams on Netflix?" thread
Almost done with the first season of The Shield, off of AVs recommendations. Fantastic show.
Edit: This streams on amazon prime, not Netflix. Can this just be the streaming thread?
Is it free for Prime subscribers? I have wanted to watch that show for a while. I may have to cave and subscribe to Prime. Maybe I'll cut out my Netflix DVDs and do that.
I'm two episodes into a show called "Surviving the Cut," which gives an overview of some of the military training schools. For example, the first episode was on the Army Ranger School. What these soldiers do to qualify is very impressive.
There's a miniseries called Top of the Lake, I highly recommend it. Miniseries are popular in the UK but have fallen out of favor in the US. But this one is pretty good.
Only got the pilot this weekend, but I really liked it. The ambiance has a spare chill which reminded me of Winter's Bone. It's very well shot and the New Zealand scenery is spectacular. Looking forward to seeing where it goes.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

They must have played all of this over a very short time here in the U.S. because I now have all 7 hours on my DVR. They played this at Sundance and it's got me excited to watch it.
Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...
None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.
I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.

New Zealand looks really cool. Holly Hunter has some hilarious lines in the last episode "I've got to get away from these crazy bitches." You'll know it when you see it. You'll piece together what's going on probably by around the 5th episode. Unlike AMC's horrible The Killing they don't give you a series of red herrings just for the sake of extending the show to a full season.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Watched episode 1 last night, seems like a lot of random characters. I'm not convinced they are going to be able to to it all together. Helen Hunt, Holly Hunter whater hrr face is a good comic relief though.
Safety Not Guaranteed streams on Netflix. Good show.
Watched this today. Loved it. Thanks for the tip.

I started watching House of Cards last weekend. This show reinforces my opinion that Kevin Spacey is the best actor in the business.
Just started watching it myself. Terrific series.

HoC is great. There is some discussion on this show you guys should visit when you're done. It's not perfect and there are some things that really bugged me about it but Spacey is awesome.
Anyone thinking of signing up for the Warner Archive? It's only $10 a month. I've got to convince my wife to drop cable so we can just live off streaming content and DVDs.

Phantom of the Opera 25th anniversary performance at Royal Albert Hall. Can't get a better seat or a much cheaper ticket. My 6 yo daughter is becoming obsessed with it.
