Just finished Caprica.
I am a BSG nerd, and loved that show. I bought the Caprica DVD when it came out...a year before Caprica did on TV.
I watched all 19 episodes in about 3 days this last week. How in the hell did this show get cancelled after only two seasons? It was fantastic and fascinating all at the same time.
So many possibilities to be had.
At least they knew it was getting cancelled with 4 episodes to go...so they didn't leave too much out there. But so much was rushed and tossed in at the end.
All of the crap SyFy has on TV and that one didn't make it? SMH.

I liked both for different reasons. I think Caprica did an excellent job of fleshing out its characters and creating good drama. I was really disappointed that it wasn't renewed. The writing is excellent and compelling. The show can be dark and even gory at times, in fact I couldn't even get through the first episode which is spent almost entirely in the virtual world, giving its inhabitants license to commit all sorts of atrocities.Originally posted by Katy Lied View PostFor those who have seen both, which is better, Caprica or Firefly?
Firefly was my first experience with the space western, which I found enjoyable. It too had good writing, but relied more on comedy and witty exchanges.Dio perdona tante cose per un’opera di misericordia

Danimal and I started watching the United States of Tara. Anyone else watch this? What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

We have been watching a miniseries about the holocaust called Auschwitz: Inside the Nazi State. It is very well done and is compelling and of course disturbing. They have interviews with SS guards from the camps, etc. They had one guy on there who still hates jews and doesn't show much if any remorse."It's true that everything happens for a reason. Just remember that sometimes that reason is that you did something really, really, stupid."

While not on Netflix, amazon prime streams the old movie "Explorers" with ethan hawke and rover phoenix. I watched it with my kids last night and it reminded me that a lot of the best movies starring kids were made in the 80s. Space camp. Goonies. Explorers. Ferris Bueller. 16 candles. To name a few.

I'll have to see if Russkies and the Last Starfighter are available.Originally posted by OrangeUte View PostWhile not on Netflix, amazon prime streams the old movie "Explorers" with ethan hawke and rover phoenix. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”
