Did you see the touching scene between PAC and myslef, er, I mean Lord Grantham and Bates? The fulcrum upon which the entire show seems to be turning.
    PLesa excuse the tpyos.

I have been informed that Shirley Maclaine will be added to next season's cast as Cora's mother. I am most pleased by the prospect of her sparring with Maggie Smith. And while I remained stoic throughout, the women in my family were in tears during last night's episode. War is hell. So is impotence, or so I've heard.

Of course you remained stoic. What else would Grantham do?

A faux Spike TV promo for the show. It'll probably get taken down for copyright violations, but it's very funny.

Anyone else disappointed with the episode last night?

I don't want to give anything away. It was the first time I rolled my eyes at the plot. Hopefully they are able to tidy things up some. It was a little to out there for me.

And I did enjoy the SNL sketch. It had me laugh last night when people were actually eavesdropping.

Are you talking about the end where one of the characters all of a sudden turned into Chris Matthews thinking about Barack Obama.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I was. I thought it veered off into Falcon Crest territory. Hopefully it will right itself next week.

We are now six episodes into season one. I have never seen my wife more engrossed in a tv series. What a great series.

Ha, we're already to the first episode of season two. Yes, engrossing, but getting a bit Austeny.

                      I absolutely love the dowager.
                      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

You're a good man, Lebowski. Danimal won't get near me when I am watching Downton Abbey.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

That's me. I always find something else to do when my wife is watching this.

Ditto. Just discovered this. We watched the first two episodes Sunday night. Wife and daughter completely immersed in it. And I really like it. Very well done.
