    I can't wait*!

(*-not accounting for the fact that they aired in England over the summer)

    I'm excited as well.

I have watched the first 3 episodes of season 2 and am watching ep 4 tonight. They are great so far.

Word on the street is that they will be doing a bonus Christmas episode this year and will start filming Season 3 in the spring.

Wow. Until a couple of days ago I was pretty much unaware of Downton Abbey, much less this thread (sorry I missed Parrothead's excellent Summon Mrs. PAC notice). But I read about the upcoming Season 2 premiere tomorrow night and decided to watch it. I asked my wife if she had seen it, and it turns out while I was in Provo yesterday she had watched all seven episodes of Season 1 and absolutely loved them. Moreover, all my daughters, including PH's wife, have been totally into it, and I can see why. I was informed I HAD to watch Season 1 before beginning Season 2, so....

Great storyline, excellent dialogue and a fascinating time in history. I've seen the first three episodes of Season 1 already and hope to finish the season by the end of the day tomorrow, at which point I can begin Season 2. Great stuff.

And I intend to start looking for a valet on Monday.

just make sure you pronounce it correctly.

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

Just watched the first 2 PBS installments last night (first 3 hours), in preparation for part two.

I had forgotten so much and am really looking forward to part 2.

This has gotten me interested in the British aristocracy and nobility and although I didn't follow the Royal wedding last year, I hear that Kate Middleton is one of only a few commoners to marry into the royal family.

I had no idea that there was still any kind of structure in place outside of the House of Lords and the royal family itself and such.

Looking it up, it looks like much of it has been dismantle including some serious reforms last year.

Anyone have any good read or documentaries on the subject?

I watched all of season 1 in just over a day. It totally sucked me in. I love the characters. I am fascinated by the lifestyle, etiquette and gender roles of the time.

I loved little things like when the old Lady Grantham asked, "What is a weekend?"
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

I'm glad I pulled all of you away from Storage Wars and Swamp Loggers, at least temporarily.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I've taken on a crisp English accent and I find myself wearing officers uniforms around the house, so it came as no surprise that the Downton Abbey Personality Test revealed that I am, in fact, the Earl of Grantham.

The test is brief and only mildly amusing; don't bother if you haven't begun watching the series.

Matthew Crawley, not to be confused with another nobleman we know with a near identical name.

How were you able to watch Season 2? Is it available online, or do you hop across the Pond to watch the telly?

I enjoy the series very much, and this send-up is great. I especially like when everyone does their "looks", which really do play a big part of the show.

Excellent! Bates is the coolest guy on the show, and his fashion sense is spot on. You're hired.
